The manager should definitely have some say over recruitment and I'm not sure I trust our recruitment team to be honest. I've not been particularly happy with many of the signings over the last year.

We’ve spent the same as them and that’s with us having CL money guaranteed and £25m for Jota and £5m for Starfelt. Imagine we were in their position right now would we have spent a thing?

No, absolutely wouldn’t be spending anything near it. Frightening to think they are spending the same as us when we are light years ahead financially.

I think the manager needs to identify the type of player and position he needs to fill then let the recruitment team go out and compile a list of players that fit that role and then the whole coaching and recruitment team have their say whittle it down and let the manager pick the final person he wants, we then pursue that player through Nicholson till we get them or move on to the next on the list if it’s not happening. I’m sure this is what we have

but like anything else when trying to buy something of a large purchase as soon as Lawyers and Agents get involved the whole process slows and then the posturing and manipulation starts.

I just can't wrap my head round what our plan of action is.

See if we were skint or struggling I wouldn't mind. That might surprise a few but I would get what we are doing with all the project players.

But we ain't skint and in best financial position I can remember. We can really try kick on and make some sort of noise in Europe.

League winners are straight into CL so let's make sure we are miles above those other * so it's almost a formality.

Everything we are doing right now points to downsizing and a team struggling financially which isn't us.

Supporters have been able to identify what we need and have done so for a few years now yet, we are now in a this situation where we are players light and/or aren't good enough. Surely the manager will have spoken to his backroom staff, perhaps watched some tapes of the team in preparation for the job? He now has had a pre-season and a few games under his belt and if he is genuinely a good manager then he must see that we are lacking in several positions which, in all reality, should have been addressed before the start of the season.

Good to have the old Celtic back.

We were so efficient in the last two years that I was starting to get worried.

Thing with waiting on targets from EPL late in the window is they get a chance, turn in one good performance ie Antonio scoring against Chelsea, and suddenly he's way out our league and we then have to panic if we don't have a decent 2nd choice lined up. We then end up with a Bangura or Balde.

Yeah probably. We are self sustainable and they have investors. We hear the same pish about them going bust again but let’s be honest they aren’t going anywhere.

They are looking like breaking even in terms of their net spend if they shift kamara, wright and hagi.

We are currently £10m plus in profit this window.

Add that to the £50m in bank at interim accounts, our listing in the LSE saying we performed better than expected financial wise. Tour of Japan and probably same income this year again as I said in other thread if we don't spend its 1 or 2 things

We are looking to build barrowfield cash wise and not a mix of credit/cash

Or we are hoarding cash for the outcome of the class action lawsuits for damages as the insurance might not cover it all.

It's certainly not for dividends for board they don't in financial terms take that much

    But something is way off...

Turning into a really scandalous window to be honest.

Minor hope is Nicholson seems to move quickly once he decides to go for someone.

But I feel there is something else going on here and we won’t sign anyone else, maybe one last minute winger to appease the fans.

Certainly won’t get what we need.

    It's mental really..

We needed upgrades before we lost some key players right through the spine of the team, making us significantly weaker as a whole, yet haven't done anywhere near enough..

Cash rich and just unwilling to go all out when we're again guaranteed direct champions league money if we win the league. I don't get it..

We're 3 points clear in the league. Ok we've had a big wake up call being papped out the cup but we have a chance to still go to that mob next week, lay down a telling marker and go 6 clear after they're coming back from Eindhoven. What bigger incentive do we need to get it done now and go there strong?

It's just been so so slow. Ridiculous really..

Same old same old this window. Clearly Ange was the only reason we did our business different past couple years. Now he's gone, the people in the background have reverted to type

Rodgers really can't spot a player, or can't decide, it seems. Ange knew exactly whom he wanted, and even had backup targets named. And Nicholson does his job better than Lawwell. But Rodgers is a downgrade on Postecoglou, so here we are.

Despite all of the sound bites from Rodgers when he arrived, they clearly don't give a * about European progression.

It was evident after we won the league last season that our squad was threadbare. We needed an injection of first team quality along with capable back ups.

Instead of spending the summer trying to make us better, they've sat on their arses and twiddled their thumbs. We're now far weaker than we were at the start of the window, meanwhile we're sitting on piles of cash from 2x automatic CL qualifications and the Jota sale.

As someone else rightly said, it's been a scandalous window and nothing points to us wanting to rectify it. As it stands this squad will give the huns are a run for their money of being the worst ever CL side. Absolutely brutal.

GK, LB, CM, LW are absolute musts. You could argue that we need another RW. Let's not forget that this squad failed in last year's CL, with many of our better players falling short. So what is going on?

Unfortunately it looks like Ange was the driving force behind our transfers and getting the deals done quickly, which is something I suspected months ago. There's literally NO excuse for us to be in this position.
