Anthony Ralston

I thought he had a good game, was the odd one or two times he was over run with 2/3 guys and couldn't do much but he used the ball well and defended pretty well one on one.

Useful at defending set pieces as well given the amount of corners we've gave away the first two games.

 

Slowly getting back up to speed. Was out for a long time so glad he's getting the minutes in early on so he's able for rest of the season.

 

Grew into it, made some big blocks and interceptions, didn't get so much on the attacking side today though

 

Did well. Particularly second half. Big tackle second half that might have saved us a goal.

 

I think, once he's fully fit, he'll be a solid backup to Johnston.

I think people have been really harsh to him in recent months, was clear the guy wasn't anywhere near match fit, still isn't tbh.

 

He had a better 2nd half.

 

I never noticed this before but you are indeed correct, he is very clever at it.
He played well yesterday, grew into the game, not really effective going forward but defended well. Got to cut him some slack, in so far as he has not had a preseason.

 

I find it incredible he's still here I think he would be so easily upgradable he had a purple patch when Ange came in initially and got a new deal off the back of it

 

Needs oiled before every game....when he runs you can hear the squeaking.

 

I like Tony....gives everything but nowhere near what's needed..

 

Don't know if he's still suffering some effects of his injury but he's painfully slow man...

 

He’s always had the most awkward running style. So stiff and robotic.

 

The lack of pace and mobility for a guy his age is frightening. He's been better than Taylor so far this season but none are good enough to be starters or even back ups in this system.

 

He runs like he’s * himself and is in agony

 

Slows our play down so much due to his constant passing it sideways to either CB or backwards to Hart.

 

Seems to go down holding something in “agony” every time he’s challenged. Too slow and weak.

 

I've noticed a few times where he cops one because he's too slack getting on to the ball or going with it..

Too indecisive then someone rams him from beind..

 

Imagine a team like ours starting fullbacks are Ralston & Taylor. There in lies some of your problems? We need better strength in depth. Someone needs to do proper analysis into the failings of our youth set up. Why is there no one coming through them in years?
