Brendan Rodgers Discussion Thread

Again it’s not an excuse but I actually think they’ve found a way to make that pitch worse. Drying it out the way it was today (and against the huns) its actually not a safe environment for players to be playing on and half the time you’re sitting waiting for some * to buckle their knee when they try and turn quickly or shift the ball.

On the flip side you could say we turned them over twice on it last season but they’re a much different team this time around and as I said they’ve found a way of making the pitch even more difficult to play on.

 

With all due respect, this is a incorrect.

People were calling for his head after the Livingston loss. Even after the Aberdeen win people were far from convinced. *, after we drew against St Mirren there were plenty of people not fully convinced (albeit the "Get him sacked" chat had subsided)

Obviously when it clicked we looked amazing under Ange, but it took us time to fully click, it'll be the same under Rodgers. As I said earlier if it's the same, turgid football come October ill start to get worried, and if there's no improvements in November I'll happily join in slagging his style.

Until then, we need to properly back him in the market, the club gambled on us getting past both Aberdeen and Kilmarnock and it backfired.

 

We have got about 10 days of the transfer window left.

We can give those to the gobshite snake, or we can give them to someone good.

 

He surely goes to the board after this and demands signings, if he doesn’t get quality players in to replace the ones we’ve lost then it’s not even his fault.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but this is a lazy analysis in my opinion.

We managed 2 shots (0 on target) in 45 minutes of football when we were losing for 30 of them in a cup game.

Saying it’s a transitional period is just nonsense. Kilmarnock might have their tails up a bit but we shouldn’t ever be turning in that level of performance, let alone in a competitive cup tie.

Ange just lost his captain and arguably the best player in the EPL and beat Man Utd 2-0. This is Celtic, treble winning champions that have sold one attacking player.

Rodgers is at a club and a league he was managing in just 5 years ago, against a manager he managed against probably about 12 times.

I can accept losing while new ideas are implemented but that performance was completely unacceptable. The performance and the attitude, not the result.

We’ve lost a trophy, he needs to buck his ideas up big time. He’s picking up top * dollar here.

 

The knee jerky reactionary fans might've been but there was definitely a sense of optimism about where we were going still. I know I was and many fans felt the same.

Despite the results not going our way there were instant improvements in a lot of our play. Remember it was an entire new team as well. At the moment all I see is instant retrogression, which to me isn't acceptable considering what Rodgers has inherited compared to what Ange took over.

 

If he claims we don't have the quality of players to beat Kilmarnock then he certainly isn't the right manager for us. if we're struggling with what we have to perform in the SPFL then we may just right Europe off

He’s not getting sacked ffs

We need strengthening for sure, and he needs to work out how to beat the low block. Side to side between the CBs is not the answer.

All I know is that players who looked good under Ange are looking substandard under him, and he needs to find a way to fix that.

 

I'm no having it for one minute that he's happy with how the windows gone so far..

If you'd told him we'd be significantly weaker and in to our season, already out of a cup and only have possibly 1 first team player in at the back (Carter-Vickers obviously a first pick)....he'd have turned down our approach..

We're 2 weeks away from having to go to the huns when we could've been going buoyant with a top, settled side. Now it's sort of squeaky * time getting 4 or so first team types in and getting them settled, as well as our side starting to gel and get going..

It should never have been like this..

Alls not lost and we're in a good position....but we all know it should've been better..

The players on that pitch should be good enough to put in a better performance than that. They were lacklustre, insipid and bereft of ideas to change it. That is all down to the manager.

He's also had an entire summer to go to the board for signings.

 

I don't know if you missed any of my previous posts, but I've mentioned a few times today that we seem to have no apparent system, lack confidence and are getting worse game by game.

So why are you trying to convince me of things that I've already agreed with?

Am saying as hard as it is for us to watch, shouting for the manager to get sacked at this system is Forrest Gump style simple.

 

This feels like when Lennon got a second bite of the cherry. Feels like he’s just going through the motions same tactics slow build we were doing before he left.
I was hoping he could bring something but maybe we should never go back and bring in a manager who had more passion and ambition. We had 70% of the ball today and done * all, no creativity or urgency through the whole team.

 

We don't have enough creativity right now to beat a good low block..

We've lost our main one
Mooy also
Hatate being out

That's a huge amount of creativity out of our side..

Now our captain is struggling to dictate and start our attacks. We're really struggling to play out from the back and build through an aggressive press..

We've got a couple of fullbacks who are lacking in pace and ability in the final third..

We have a couple of starting wingers who just don't have that guile or creativity..

It's one of the reasons we've adapted Kyogo’s game to dropping deeper and trying to link the play wigh runners behind...as we just don't have it..

We've got good players....but we're missing a fair bit at present..

Badly need an injection of quality..

Help him out for fucksake and back him properly..

 

Rodgers has had his shot at remption and * it.

We need to move on, and we need to move quick

 

I agree all is not lost, thank * it was the league cup and not 3 points dropped in the league. What is Rodgers meant to do though with these signings, they’re all project signings, where’s the * quality that we should be signing with this much money in the bank? Very frustrated after that today.
