Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Why do people say you have to wait til the end of the window due to options? If that's the case are you not essentially taking other peoples scraps.

 

It's just meaningless clichéd * to cover up for Celtic's customary incompetence.

 

If we scale it right back to the start of the window.

Rodgers return. People said we need a big strong holding type, which we have for a couple of years now.

We need a 10 type with legs who can create chances and be good at sets pieces. Also losing Mooy has proved to have been a kick in the baws.

Before Jota left most people would have thought Rodgers would have had him in the left and we would have brought in a right winger if real quality to start.

What’s happened is we have sold Jota, not replaced him and we have literally no * on the wings who will created like he did.

Keeper, again Harts last year of his contract we should have brought real quality in and kept Hart for the remainder of his deal, wish him well next season. But we are keeping him as first choice.

Third striker was another position we needed, still not got one in.

During the summer we have identified that both Taylor and Berni are not good enough to play under Rodgers tactics and the way he wants to play.

Need a new left back.

Still don’t have a big * holding centre mid, instead we have brought in lad who played in the Korean second division.

The 10 role position, we have signed a project there. And not replaced Mooy either.

Right wing, signed two projects, one injured from Oz, and even some of the Oz fans said don’t know why we are signing him. And the Korean lad who looks and upgrade on Gump but still not the quality we need.

Centre half we have lost Starfelt, again if we said what position could we upgrade on it would have been there but again we have signed two young lads who look the part but only time will tell, willing to give them the benefit of the doubt being thrown in at the deep end.

Now two weeks left of window and we need loads of areas needing addressing.

 

I see harry kane waited to see his options.

Or rather Bayern wanted himx paid the money, got him, he played the next available game, scores and assists.


Sick of all the excuses we make for this club and the club happy to peddle as well.

It's summer we've known all * summer we are in the UCL, yet here we are apparently waiting for the EPL teams to confirm their 25 man squads before we sign anyone of worth.

This has been unfolding in front of our eyes all summer. Its no knee-* reaction. The quality has been downgraded and we've so far not reinvested properly.

We aren't going to change the model or plans in place this far in to the window. We need to accept its going to be a fight this season.

The infuriating thing, is we've done it to ourselves.

 

Next ten days of the window. Do you need to add?

Yeah. I think it’s always been about quality, I’ve said that before. The team needs matchwinners, it needs quality. That’s something hopefully we can do.

 

This isn't a knee * reaction and I'll probably get pelters but nothing I havnt said before.

As a club we are going * nowhere fast, especially if we continue with our current transfer strategy. We are still paying the same amount on players we did 15 to 20 years ago. Every now and again there's a glimmer of light with Jota, Dembele type signing but the rest especially this season is just pure gambling on trying to turn cheap punts into big profit sales.

Our transfer policy is to try and make money not make our team or squad better.. its depressing

 

Rumours of £30m warchest, improvements to lennoxtown and investment to the squad.

Then Ange ups and leaves out of the blue, in comes and old pal of Desmond and the club wishy washy him with delusions that things had changed.

2 months later, we are weaker, no investment and out of the first cup, in the first game.

Well * done Celtic.

Even if we pretend the £30m warchest was over estimated - surely to * we still expected to spend half of it at £15m?
Then add at least half the Jota money?

Is it so hard to have expected an investment in to the squad of around £25m on 4-5 key players?

Instead a bunch of projects and we post transfer profits this summer yet again.

Do you honestly think we'll get in the necessary quality at this stage?

Four quality first team ready players in 10 days?

We might get Tierney on loan and the lad from Wolves.

That would be really underwhelming and negligent, and yet it would probably be lapped up as us having "done the busineess"

Why does it take so long to sign players. Are the * on the board looking for vouchers on the internet?

 

We need some upgrades but remember this is a squad that won 5 out of 6 trophies last couple years. Shouldn't require major reconstruction just a bit better quality in certain areas. It's Rodgers tactics that's letting us down. He inherited a treble winning team and didn't have to tweak that much. I guess "it's not his team" and he wants to put "his identity" into the squad.

 

It isn't the same squad.

We've lost Jota, Mooy and Starfelt.

Joe Hart is getting older and worse every season.

Even if we hadn't lost any of the above to other clubs or retirement or old age, we'd still be worse off as standing still is the same as going backwards.

 

Also look at it this way, we’ve spent £15/16 million this summer and we are still weaker…… let that sink in.

 

I'll be surprised if we even get those two, but you just know that fans will deem that good enough, should it happen.

GK, LB, LW, DM - we need 4 quality first team additions. Does anyone in their right mind think we'll go out and splash the cash on these positions? We might get 2 at most and even then 1 will probably be a loan.

Its crazy to think that I was buzzing for this season before Ange left. Slowly but surely all of that optimism has been drained out of me. I really thought we were changing and were going to kick on this summer, but I'll be absolutely stunned if we have European football after Christmas by the way it's going.

 

I didn't say we had to stay still though. I said upgrades in some positions.

 

Rodgers aside the squad has needed a major overhaul since we have lost our most creative player in Jota, another important player in Mooy and then Starfelt.

Before losing them three we needed the following

Holding centre Mid
10 type player
Right winger
Third striker

Fast forward losing them three, Rodgers tactics have exposed a further weakness at left back and we need to add a winger regarding replacing Jota.

So what we still need is the following

Holding centre mid
Left winger
Right winger
10 type
Third striker

If that’s not a reconstruction I don’t know what is.

Rodgers has been let down in the quality department.

 

If we lose at Ibrox now the pressure will be astronomical and let's be honest it's a real possibility with the performances so far.

 

Good thing is they're pish and we're already 3pts clear.

 

Hard to say if Rodgers has been let down, the players were there to beat Killie. He's chosen to play a system that doesn't fit our full backs, chosen to play Kyogo deeper and chosen to let Maeda have free reign.
