To be fair to Rodgers that photo could have been taken whilst he was given the update. So might be news to him as well.

A lot of the injuries/recoveries (CCV, Ralston, Johnston, Taylor, Bain) were carry overs from last season. I do think its something Rodgers should be looking at though as this season won't be any less demanding than last season. Defence in particular to seem to consistenly be prone to injury/knocks just now.

Yet he’s one of their most successful managers in their history.

I’m actually wondering if players are getting used to not pushing as hard as Ange’s training and adapting to it.

Because his was brutal by all accounts. It took a good 14/15 months for us to see the full effects of it.

But really, I think the amount of flying about, different timezones training and games in pre-season for money making opportunities rather than focusing on just training and preparing fitness this is what happens

Stephen Welsh will be sidelined for at least two months - leaving Celtic facing a defensive crisis.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is already out for a few weeks with a hamstring issue and now Welsh also faces a long spell on the sidelines. The home-grown defender suffered ligament damage in his ankle after an accidental training ground clash on Friday.

Rodgers had given the defender a major boost by naming him as one of the four centre halves he wanted to go with. The problems is Carter-Vickers and Welsh are now sidelined and that leaves just Maik Nawrocki and new signing Gustaf Lagerbielke from that original four

New signing Lagerbielke is now likely to make his debut in Sunday's Viaplay Cup clash with Kilmarnock. Celtic’s injuries, which also include Reo Hatate’s thigh problem, could have implications for others.

Aberdeen want to buy Liam Scales but he could now come back into the first-team plan at Celtic because of the injuries. The Irishman impressed under Rodgers in pre-season but so far Aberdeen have failed to strike a fee with Celtic. Celtic also have Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi but is looking increasingly likely he could go out on loan in this transfer window

Just typical. Number of injuries right now is ridiculous.

Might be imagining it but it feels like Welsh gets quite a lot of knocks for someone who barely plays.

Some luck that. I'd be tempted to keep Scales around the squad now and punt him in January when Welsh gets back.

Stephen Welsh's ligament injury that he picked up in training is now more serious than first thought.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match formalities, Brendan Rodgers confirmed he would be out for 'three to four months'.

The injury occurred on the same day he penned a new four-year deal with the Parkhead club.

A tough blow for the player and the club.

Cripes. That's harsh. Went from vague 'a knock at training ruling him out for the weekend', to 'probably out until October' to at least knowing it's a ligament problem which is always a long one, so '4 months' in the aspace of 3-4days. Gotta feel for the lad.

Aye but as I said, no worse than other clubs in a similar situation to us, from what I could see.
