A fit Tierney is a mouthwatering prospect.

I reckon he'd go for it. He's sampled England and I doubt anyone will really move for him as he hasn't played consistently in a very long time.

A loan with a £15m option would be my limit, would mean Arsenal recoup most of their funds and is still a high but affordable price.

We’d be able to see if his surgeries he had last year have helped his injury issues, or if he’s still as injury prone as he has been in the past.

KT at his best is one of the best LBs in Europe IMO, and if he wasn’t a Celtic fan, we’d have no chance of getting him.

For that sort of deal there would be other targets we could look at that we'd likely recoup or increase our money.

What you suggest is pretty reasonable just think a lot of what's being said here is coloured by Tierney being a Celtic fan. Plenty of other clubs are obviously passing on him is another thing to consider.

Said it in the Transfer Rumours, but a lot needs to fall into place to make this happen..

We can't afford to wait for deadline day, if it falls through we're screwed. Try and make it happen now and if we can't, we should forget and move onto to other targets.

If we were to sign KT then I think he’d be here for the rest of his career, whereas obviously with other targets (i.e Rieder at a similar price) we’d expect to cash in on them in two seasons for £10m or so profit.

Ultimately though, I still think we’d be getting amazing value regardless of future resale.

Would love tae see him back, but don't like the prospect of him being oot injured after a few games, no question he'd be a target for the opposition.

The thought of spending signicant money on someone who is perceived as a crock in most supporters eyes is enough to make the balance sheet csc sick with worry let alone a normal punter

Pretty sure he said himself he's been fit for the past 12 months or so. Just hasn't been picked.

That’s probably because he’s barely played though. And I’m almost certain I saw him coming off in a Scotland game (or two) with an injury.

He's definitely come off injured and been unavailable for Scotland in the last 12 months so that doesn't stack up.

Quick Google gives: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...n-tierney-scotland-injury-update-27154207.amp is the one I can find, but also think he had another like this plus a head injury.

Tierney only does 100%, which I really admire, but he pays the price. That's what allowed Rodgers to run him into the ground last time he was here. The more this is talked about the more (to me) it's a Rodgers crowd pleaser, and nothing to do with actually managing the team.

Really we should have 3 or 4 quality signings come in, probably got 1 of those in one of the CBs, but if we exit the window with Tierney signed in some regard but nothing else I think that'll be telling on Rodgers and how he operates.

Really hope we don't sign him, love him as a player but miles off how we operated successfully with CCV, Jota, Juranovic, Kyogo, Hatate, Johnston and Oh signings.

Agreed. Tierney should obviously be option no. 1, but we need enough time to be able to switch to whomever is no. 2. if things don't work out. Deadline day signings should not be players crucial to the season, but those that are nice add-ons to a team that's previously covered the urgent needs. For us, that would be a RW or CF. A LB falls under urgent needs, and must be signed now, not in 13 days.

Us fans are a mental bunch. We moan when we don’t spend money and then moan at the prospect of us doing so :56:

KT is legitimately a top 10 left back in the world. If we can get him through the door for £15m, I wouldn’t even hesitate.

(Admittedly I’d also be up at Celtic Park screaming like a wee lassie to welcome him back :52:)

Any concerns about his fitness/injury record @McGrory1888.

I think Tierney is a great player but given he's currently 4/5th pick at Arsenal do you think they are all worse players than him? I don't get the impression Arteta is doing anything out of bad feeling just he's not the right fit/dependable enough is what I'd assume.

I love Teirney but i’m really not sure on this

Assuming we have £20m to spend i’d hate for us to blow most of that on a left back and then go into next season with Hart in goals and no new CDM

If he wasn't dogged with injury this would be a no brainer.

Of course mate, but if there wasn’t then would we have a chance in * of getting a player of his quality? He’s also been healthy for the vast majority of the time since he had knee surgery the season before last.

He doesn’t suit Arsenal’s current system, it’s pretty much that simple. Similarly, I wouldn’t have been rushing to get him back under Ange. As an “old fashioned” full back who sticks wide and bombs on when he has the chance though, I can’t think of many in the world better and that’s the role we desperately need to fill.

Added to that, we’d be in the position where we can give him plenty rest and utilise Taylor as his deputy, ensuring that KT is fit and ready for the big games. To go all in on my initial comment about not hesitating to pay £15m for him; I’d be happy for us to pay that just to have him for European games and games against the huns, hearts, Hibs and sheep. So I’d literally have no issue with him resting/missing half our season if he’s managed properly.

Everything other than the £15m I can see that being a positive, but it is all dependent on his fitness being managed, which is the bit that gives me the fear.

On £15m I just don't see how a club like ours lays that out knowing we won't recoup anything at the end as if Tierney comes back I cant see him playing much past 30. If we don't buy in quality in at least 2 other areas I can't see how getting Tierney helps much this year.

But I'm often wrong and he is some player so guess we'll find out where the club are at over the next few weeks. Take it you think they are going to go for it if the opportunity is there?
