Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

This is by no means a guarantee and a club like ours in our position of strength should really have their business done beforehand.

 

Think the point is it shouldn't be getting done on deadline day. By that point we're 3 league games, and a cup game, into the season. And a couple of days away from playing at Ibrox.

Our squad is currently a bit of a mess due to a combination of lack of quality signings, injuries and carrying deadwood. Taking far too long to sort it out.

 

Obviously an advantage to have your new players bedded in before your most difficult games, that’s exactly what we have failed to do. Obviously this failure has been exacerbated by the loss of Jota, Starfelt and Mooy and injuries to key players. Think the annoying part is we’ve done this so many times before. Remember going into CL qualifiers with Biton et al at the back, it’s happened often. Poor planning

 

That's the problem right there: you are assuming that being in a position of strength financially translates into a position of strength when it comes to us making quality players just sign already instead of stalling to see if the EPL or the Bundesliga or whatever come calling. It doesn't.

 

It should be done already; but it doesn't seem to work like that in reality for clubs like ours in the middle of the food chain.

In a position of strength relative to who though? The teams in our league for sure, but if we're after decent 'marquee' signings there's plenty of teams around our level financially across europe that we don't really have any advantage over.

This thread will be a viral meme in 10 years time, after a complete collapse of Scottish society is attributed the mental breakdowns of thousands of people who checked this thread every day in the summer of 2023, only to be triggered by the release of a Bananarama follow up to their hit track "Cruel Summer" , called "Crucial Summer" a decade later.

It will be reported thousands of people suddenly stripped off all of their clothes, and started running through the streets ducking and hiding, like they were being attacked by invisible forces whilst screaming "no! no! Not * Ryan Fraser!!!"

First Minister @blackfish will declare a state of emergency where everyone has to get naked so the afflicted feel more comfortable, and will order Lawells driveway razed and filled with boulders so that no man may ever lay down a heated driveway again.

Also Sevco will be proper dead and an independent Scotland will have been at war with Sweden since 2025 when Gustaf Lagerbielke ascended to the throne of Sweden and decreed all children be named Henrik.

Do you just want signings for the sake of it or do you want the right signings?

 

I’m kinda cool waiting if we know for definite we’re trying to sign quality but the thought of Rodgers wanting time to assess the squad even though he claims to have watch all our games is lurking in the back of my mind.

 

I'm still clinging on the fact some players we are targeting until the CL play off is completed.

As said previously I reserve the right to lose my * if deadline day at the latest doesn't throw up some exciting signings.

Not pushing the panic button, yet.

 

Lagerbielke said the transfer happened within a week. We obviously work fast when we know what we want. Perhaps our mqanager really can't decide which position is the biggest priority?
