Took us to the last day to announce CCV and Jota last year.

Weirdly enough. Good players might not see Celtic as destination number one.

I thought like this too, but then Rodgers said there won't be any super-expensive signings. And yet, he stated in an earlier interview that he has European ambitions here. * knows why he came back.:56:

Folk have clearly read too much into headlines, along with knowing we have a good amount of cash in the bank. Then they put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5 thinking we’d smash our spending records this summer. I still expect more players coming in but I’d be surprised if we surpassed our transfer record.

Why would you think having modern training facilities with a full size indoor training pitchand adding a quality pitch with grandstands for women and colts to play their home games is a waste?

I thought it was 5 million? Where did 20 million come from? Seems alot for an indoor pitch a 5000 seater arena.

Still 2 weeks to go and in Ange’s first season the important signings came on the last day. We have to keep faith MN and Lawwell jr have a system they are working to and unfortunately it’s not always going to be quick.

I have no doubt Rodgers will be pushing as well with the identified targets.

This what I keep trying to tell myself as well.

He left due not being able to get funds for players he wanted so why would he come back to the same situation?? You could argue the fact we appear to have money makes it worse this time.

Unless Rodgers knows his stock is low in England and he's on good money with us so thinks he can just sit and suffer this time? Honestly tho I can't see it being this scenario.

I am starting to wonder if this maybe the case here and I think we will know how likely this is over the next couple of weeks.

So far we have shown little ambition in the transfer market. Have a weaker squad having sold three key contributors from last season and only one new starting 11 player so far.

I also think Rodgers seems quite passive when interviewed, just his use of language and approach. Surely he isn’t happy with how long things are taking.

For me we have taken a gamble on that game at the weekend going into our second toughest league fixture with glaring weaknesses in the team. I also think this weekends cup tie has potential to be tough again after Killie’s start and their pitch.

If ever we are going to surpass our record signing, surely this is the perfect time? Made our record sale, CL money, guaranteed CL if we win the league and the money that goes with, attempting to make a dent in Europe, club is profitable and sitting on record amounts of cash. Seems like the time to me.

Totally agree m8. Scottish football isn't well thought of in world football these days and most foreign and/or English based players will only see it as a stepping stone to the big leagues like the EPL. and La Liga etc.

In terms of net spend, I agree. I would also be surprised. But we should have a positive net spend (I will be very angry if we don't) and given what we got for Jota and Starfelt, even a small positive net spend of say 5-10 million should surely be close to a record on money spent on incoming players. I don't know the figures, so this is assumption on my part and I'm happy to be corrected.

If we don't have a positive net spend, even a small one, then we're not reinvesting properly IMHO.

Rodgers could've got another EPL gig easily, he's an experienced manager and you look at his final season at Leicester, there was a bigger picture at play with the owners of the club and a lack of investment.

He's back with us because he wants to be here and right the wrongs of his premature departure first time around, i actually believe it really matters to him.

Also he's a very wealthy man, money would not have been his first consideration when thinking about his next job.
