But you're comparing apples and oranges. We've lost Jota, we've lost Mooy, we gained Nawrocki but lost Starfelt, we CLEARLY need a new winger and LB, arguably also a new GK and 3 of our key players are injured: Hatate, CCV and Johnston. We're still adapting to Rodgers' style (and the Asian trip hasn't helped with that IMHO) after just 2 competitive games and we finished this game with Ralston, Welsh, a guy playing his second competitive game for us and a Greg Taylor who is losing the plot as our back 4!

And yet he won. He found a way to win away to the second or 3rd best team in the league.

Let's compare Ange's team to Rodgers' at the end of the season.

That says a lot more about the * poor pace of our recruitment more than anything.

Yes all of these factors have contributed to our drop off but what's the debate here then? There has been a drop off. It's indubitable. I'm not saying we won't improve or Rodgers won't build a team as good as Ange's am I? Can I not point out the obvious drop in quality in the first two games so far without the nonsense replies?

Sean is crying because I said a 2-2 away draw at Brentford for Spurs is a decent result (it is). Just like our win today was.

I will apologise though @Lewis Kerr it was "* garbage" rather than "* pish"

All posts are valid. The first half was garbage, Taylor and McGregor were poor and the squad looked uninspiring on paper before the game today. Try again :giggle1:

I like how you swerved the whole Aberdeen/Brentford debate you started though. I'm glad you realised you were talking pish

FWIW, I think a 2-2 draw away at Brentford is not actually a decent result for Spurs. Not if they are to have ANY hope of a European spot. But that's an aside, let's talk about Celtic.

Yes, you are free to point out the drop in quality if you really want to; but why bother though? It's like me comparing some guy all done up on a night out with you hungover with beer breath in your dressing gown the morning after a night out. Sure, it's technically correct to say I think he looked a lot hotter than you look now; but it's not really a fair comparison. I should wait until I see you on a night out to make a fair comparison. Of course you're going to get some pushback on that.

As for the transfers, I'll judge them when the window closes. Let's see how we all feel then.

Next up it's Man utd at home, a loss or draw and the pressure will start, the EPL is ruthless and cut throat, especially for a manager who is seen as being given a chance to ply his trade in that divisiion.

There's also the small matter of levy, he's got previous ....

European places in the EPL won't be decided on GW1. But here's some of Brentford's results at home last season:

    Brentford 4-0 Man Utd
    Brentford 2-0 Brighton
    Brentford 0-0 Chelsea
    Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
    Brentford 3-1 Liverpool
    Brentford 1-0 Man City

They also beat Chelsea away, Spurs away and Man City away (x2 wins vs the treble winners), finishing 3 points off 6th place.

Looking at that it's incredibly ignorant to disregard how strong they are at home and in general. They're a good team mate, all the evidence points towards that. So for Postecoglou to go there and get a draw without Kane in his first ever competitive fixture, surely that's a decent result, no?

Anyways, why shouldn't I be able to post on how I see the team? I have the right to voice my opinion on what I see. If I think there's a drop off I'm entitled to state it, I'm not going to not post how I feel. Equally, I'll post something positive if I see it. Not doing so just negates the purpose of a forum.

I've posted positively about Kyogo, Holm and Yang today and I am pleased with the result. I feel like we're on the cusp of being a right good side with the correct signings. That doesn't get mentioned for some reason though.

Not getting involved in all that but a 2-2 away draw to Brentford in your first game is definitely a good result. They have unbelievable home form and are the kind of counterattacking team that could really punish an Ange side.

Not sure what the general consensus is but it definitely seems like a positive start for him there.

We'll see about Spurs and Brentford. I doubt Spurs fans will have much patience if his team doesn't improve. I think that's a game they'll have seen themselves as needing to win. City are still City, Arsenal look stronger, Liverpool look stronger, Chelsea look stronger, Newcastle look stronger, Man Utd look MUCH stronger, the quality at the top of that league is insane now... I think if he wants to break into that top 6, then he needs to be beating Brentford. On reflection, I think I want to stand by that opinion, regardless of past results. 7th will not be seen as a success at Spurs either.

Regarding your point about posting what you feel, you do have every right to say what you see. Of course you do! Where did I say otherwise? I said you are not comparing like with like. I also have every right to point that out to you. You aren't. You still haven't really addressed that point. I'm not accusing you of being negative about Celtic; I'm saying that you are being unfair to Rodgers and overly kind to Ange by making the specific comparison you have made.

Bookmark this. If there has been a clear drop in quality between Ange's team at its peak and Rodgers' team at its peak, I'll agree that Ange did a better job. If we don't have the signings we obviously need the day after the window closes, I'll admit that Rodgers, Nicholson and all the rest have royally screwed up.

    Until then, comparisons aren't fair.

That was not Angeball from Tottenham. Slow, sideways and backwards ball, movement, static players, no wingers or full backs that can get in behind the defense and get across or cut back in, a CF that has a poor first touch and can't make runs clever runs.

The Celtic that went toe to toe with Madrid would beat this Tottenham.

Postecoglou is between a rock and a hard place-because he's a no-name manager, and that makes him vulnerable to player power in the dressing room, so he can't let loose at the players, yet.

Privately he would be fuming at that performance.

Its no wonder he's losing hair a rate of knots.

    Short memories.

"Ange baw" took a wee while to happen with us as well. I think he will be just fine down there tbh. By all accounts their fans have bought into it and he is being backed.

Also don't think he will be scared to let loose on the players. He's already handling the English media brilliantly which is a challenge in itself.

    Hope he does well.

I genuinely don't mean any offence by this and I'm sure you're a smart guy generally and probably a lot smarter than me; but when it comes to this specific assertion, I think you're delusional.

He's saying the team that played Real Madrid might not beat Tottenham.
