Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Still time but on the whole we've not had the window we all thought we would. Would be incredibly disappointing if we yet again bank a * load of money from sales and do not reinvest

 

Said it a few posts above it doesn't make sense we have brought in about £25m from sales spent £15m and not touched a bit of dosh in bank it doesn't make sense to hoard cash

Right wing is well covered.

Left wing is a major issue for me

He has said daizen he sees as a striker, hacksaw is out the picture and mikey j is a walking stookie so you have nobody really on that left side.

If you can get hacksaw out the door and mikey and bring in fraser and 1 more then it's best you could wing for imo

 

We've effectively been doing this for years. Jota, Dembele, Edouard, Tierney, Van Dijk, Wanyama, Forster etc all sold for big money, still end up spending in our little £4m odd price brackets, apart from a few buys (Edouard, Jullien, Jota and CCV)

Most of us were in agreement that before the window opened, a GK, LB, CB, B2B CM and a RW would put us in a completely different league domestically and would give us a real chance of making a dent in Europe, if we got lucky with the draw. That changed when Starfelt and Jota left, meaning we needed to replace CB and LW.

We have Starfelts replacement in Nawrocki and we have the CB cover with Lagerbielke but I feel like we haven't really added much else to the first team and that was showed by the game, yesterday. Only Nawrocki started out of the new boys and that was because Starfelt pushed for a move away from the club. Don't get me wrong, these new boys might come good, both Yang and Holm look exciting and Nawrocki has had a very solid start but it does feel very meh.

I'm not panicking at all. I still feel we will get 3 first team players in before the end of the window shuts, as well as Lagerbielke. We are just waiting for the pieces to fall into place at other clubs before we make our moves. GG, CCV and Jota were all signed the last week of the summer window under Ange in 2021. We need something similar to that again, in the next couple of weeks.

 

Maybe when BR said he wanted more power in the team he meant players that could kick the ball hard. It's the only reason I can think that in his 1.5 months here that Rocki has been his only signing. The other 4 were identified by the scouting team before he joined.

 

Nawrocki probably was too, and I'd imagine alot of the signings made in 2021/22 season were pre-scouted. Any incoming manager will be presented a list.

 

I want to give BR the benefit here that he probably knew Rocki from when he played against Leicester. Either way its so underwhelming that in 1.5 months he's only signed 0-1 players that he felt we needed to improve the team. He said he watched our games, he's trained with them for nearly 2 months.

Maybe we are trying to sign players and losing out on primary targets. Maybe fee's are higher than we want to spend. Either way it's frustrating

 

The two areas we really need an improvement on that is left back, and midfield. An athletic, strong presence in those positions would make a huge difference.

I think the best example of that is Johnson, and would love for us to have someone similar on the left. We don’t really have anyone in midfield who can provide it which I think has been an issue in Europe for years and will continue to be. It’s all good having quality technicians and good footballers like we do, but the balance just doesn’t work at a European level.

Hoping we can address those issues along with a keeper and winger by the end of the window, and while I’m not worried yet, I am getting more concerned as the days go on.

 

It could still be a really good window..
