See that's the key thing mate, for him as a player he's good enough to be playing regular for another team, it's a short career and most players want to play, but then again he's at Celtic so there is that.

Similar to Forrest, although Forrest is nearing the end of his career.

If both are happy being back up then they are two decent players to have in the homegrown quota for Europe.

    No brainer really.

If he wanted to leave I could understand that as well though. Same with Jimmy I think it would be his decision, don't think we'll be actively pushing association trained/homegrown players out the door if need be.

Yes mate without a doubt, we as supporters will have an opinion but if you look at it from the players point of view, as much as their game time would be limited , walking away from Celtic would not be an easy thing to do.

    In what capacity?

Not going to get prime Maldini to sit on the bench/stands most weekends.

What age is he now? Seems to have been around for ages.

Really can't see him being loaned out. We're thin on homegrown players as it is.

We need to move on some others to free space up for new players for the CL not homegrown players.

1 game for Celtic may mean more to him than 10 games for Aberdeen. He's won trophies for the Club he supports and may just love doing that.

Yeah that's true, it's all down to the player himself, me personally i'd be happy to empty the bins at Celtic lol, i get that certain players will not want to lose that association with the club.

Think you've got the stamina to be taking the bins out these days Prof?

Especially as I'll actually be in the * bin :giggle1:

doesnt matter what age he is a season of playing regular football would benefit him in the long run ,i dont see the point of worrying about homegrown players when there is very little chance of him playing in the champions league anyway

He's saying if we're going to have a 4th choice CB you're not going to convince many better than Welsh without a promise of game time.

We have Welsh on low wages, tim, knows the club, helps us meet the homegrown quota.

Do you think he is ever going to be good enough to be first choice for us? That would be the only reason to loan him out. I think he's solid and fairly dependable but will never be first choice for us.

What is it, 17 non homegrown/association trained players we can have in a CL squad?

Be careful what you wish for.

He's deffo staying after the managers comments..

If you compare how he spoke about Scales then I'd expect him to be away. Kobayashi as well..

If Welsh can come in and be steady enough like today, have no real issues being a 4th choice and home-grown....then it does make sense..

Nobody is saying he should be a starter.
