Maeda has some attributes but he just isn't capable of playing the role being asked of him as a possession-based left-winger. His control, passing and body strength are nowhere near the level required. His crossing is, on the whole, shocking too. He can play through the middle where his pace and movement can get him in behind but not in a position where he is expected to pass and move and link-up play.

When his touch is off it's really off lol.

Need much more creativity out left, especially in domestic matches. Agree should be back up to Kyogo. Can do a defensive shift out left in Europe if needed.

I think he's a excellent option in Europe and against the huns, but he isn't someone I want to see starting against teams that sit in deep.

Horrible player , said it many times. Touch and awareness genuinely painful to watch . He's an impact sub up top to stretch legs with his pace.

Time and time again it’s showed he does nothing against teams that sit in.

Probably should've had an assist for Forrest but wasn't great..

Feel like he should've been hooked for someone more creative, especially when the game was out of sight..

Full of running and pressed them hard as he always does.
Feel like everything he does is either top drawer or * with nothing in between, still love him but and think he's important for us.

He won the ball for the team in the final third a lot, but his crossing and touch was off today.

He can RUN.... But I think he is missing a lot oF the qualities to be a Top Player.

Was decent last year, but now that Jota's gone we need improvement for Europe IMO.

One of his worst games today. Contributed very little and surprised he seen the game out. Can do much better.

His touch let him down everytime in the final 3rd, he gets in brilliant positions and makes the runs but if he can’t take the ball in then it’s all for nothing. Was a mistake keeping him on up top as well.

Think we all assumed Ange had a hard-on for Maeda, hence he played left wing and forced Jota to the right.

Left wing is NOT his position.

Rodgers comes in and plays pre-season with him through the middle. We see why he starts there for Japan.

Yet the season starts and he's back on left wing.

The * this guy got in his contract that means he starts every game at left wing?

Through the middle he is good. Out wide, nearly * useless.

If that run doesn't tell BR that he's not a striker, nothing will.

Absolutely sick of the sight of this guy.

I couldn’t give a * how hard he works. The trade off just simply isn’t worth it.

Can’t trap the ball. Takes three touches to get it under control. Fresh air swipes on the regular. Zero composure. Doesn’t protect the ball. Far too lackadaisical on the ball. Terrible finisher. Slows attacks down when the ball is at his feet. Dispossessed constantly.

Look at the state of him going through on goal just before O’Riley scores the third for example. Had about eight touches of the ball and still didn’t have it under control when he got the shot away. Genuinely looked like a wee toddler learning how to dribble.

Other than hard work and making good runs he offers nothing.

If players of his ability are starting in attack for a Celtic team in European competition, we are in huge trouble.

    Levels below what we require.

Has a place in the squad 100% but he's not the answer for every game

Dreadful use of the ball but needed him as Taylor was getting toasted...

He shouldn't be our first choice left winger either..

    Squad player at best.
