Should be looking at getting Carse on a loan to a top flight team. Hope Vata signs a new deal and goes on loan too.

    CELTIC FC B… 5

    (Carse 4 & 90 Thomson 7, Vata 56 & 76)

    GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS… 0

Celtic FC B got back to winning ways with a convincing 5-0 victory over Gala Fairydean Rovers in the Lowland League.

First-half goals from Mackenzie Carse and Corey Thomson inside the opening 10 minutes got the Celts off the best start, with Rocco Vata adding two more in the second period and then Carse getting a second right at the death to claim all three points.

Celtic came out of traps flying looking to atone for their midweek defeat to East Kilbride and they opened the scoring inside the opening four minutes through captain Mackenzie Carse.

Mitchel Frame was the provider, laying a lovely ball through the defence to Carse and the midfielder had the presence to roll the ball under the keeper’s legs.

Three minutes later and it was 2-0, this time it was Corey Thomson on the scoresheet. It was very nearly Carse again, as his left-foot shot cannoned off the post and fell directly to Thomson who had the easy task of slotting into an empty net.

The chances kept coming and Rocco Vata was extremely unlucky not to have a goal for his efforts, finding the back of the net twice inside the opening 20 minutes, but on both occasions, the offside flag was raised.

Chances kept coming for the young Hoops, with Carse, Thomson and Vata all having efforts saved by Jay Cantlay in the Gala goal – Vata’s effort on 20 minutes coming extremely close with the keeper having to race back to clear off the line.

The visitors had their first effort on goal on the 28th minute as Liam Watt smashed a powerful volley from outside of the box towards the top corner, but Joe Morrison produced a stunning save to keep him out.

Bruno Davidson had spent some time on the floor receiving treatment and he was substituted on the 36th minute for Jude Bonnar, but with his last kick, he could have made it 3-0 as he sent a shot over the bar from six yards out.

Celtic should have been five or six up by the break and Carse should have had his second in the opening minutes of the second-half but his shot was too close to the keeper from six-yards out.

But they did get their third on the 56th minute, with Vata getting a well-deserved goal however it wasn’t the prettiest, as his shot from the edge of the box took a wicked deflection and looped over the head of the goalkeeper.

Bonnar was a real threat down the left-wing and he was inches away from making it 4-0 on the hour mark but his stinging shot was kept out of the top corner by Cantlay.

The goalkeeper was the only thing keeping the score down and he had to stand strong against Vata to keep out his powerful shot from inside the box on the 72nd minute.

Straight up the other end and Gala Fairydean had their best chance of the match as they struck the bar with an effort from 25 yards.

Celtic then missed two guilt-edge chances before Vata got his second and Celtic’s fourth on the 76th minute, placing the ball into the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area.

Then right at the death, Carse got the fifth for the Hoops, tapping home from close-range to seal an impressive result and performance.

CELTIC: Morrison, Dede (Osagie 56), Frame (Hale 63), Agbaire, Robertson, Ure, Thomson, Kelly (Dobbie 63), Vata, Carse, Davidson (Bonnar 36).

    Subs: McLean.

We need to put some investment in the B team, lost a lot of the key players and not off to a good start

A bad, bad result that. Doesn't reflect well on the coaching staff either tbh

Pretty grim really. Total waste of time if we're honest.

It's no a waste of time, losing is an important part of development. I'd rather we were winning but it's all part of the development

If this level was a waste of time then they'd win every game, aye the style of play is probably worse but they're no, it's about learning the Celtic way of playing and working as a team. Right now it's a team that has lost most of their team from last season and not had much in the way if reinforcements other those that have aged up

    CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS... 3
    (Girdwood 14, Duffy 74, Lawson 82)

    CELTIC... 1
    (Vata 77)

Celtic FC B suffered defeat in the capital this afternoon (Saturday), losing out 3-1 to Civil Service Strollers.

After falling behind early on in the match, the Celts couldn’t find a way back into proceedings as the home side grabbed the all-important second goal of the game.

Inside the last 15 minutes, the Hoops did have a glimmer of hope as Rocco Vata produced a tidy finish to bring the score back to 2-1, but Strollers quickly regained their two-goal advantage, and sealed all three points at Christie Gilles Park.

As the Bhoys looked to build on last weekend’s impressive 5-0 win over Gala Fairydean Rovers, they started the game positively, and both Daniel Kelly and Lewis Dobbie had long-range efforts, forcing Jacob Pazikas into two early saves.

However, despite some positive play in the opening few minutes, it was Civil Service Strollers who would take the lead in the 14th minute.

A corner into the box made its way to the edge of the Celtic penalty area, before an effort was struck on goal, going through a host of bodies.

Josh Clarke did well to save the initial effort, but he could only palm the ball into the path of Harry Girdwood who tapped the ball home from close-range.

The Celts enjoyed much of the possession in the opening 45 minutes of the match, remaining patient and looking to create some more openings in dangerous areas.

The best opportunity of the half fell the way of Rocco Vata who almost found the top corner with a first-time volley, but it was well saved by Pazikas.

The home side did enjoy some chances of their own, with their game-plan being to try and win the ball back, before hitting the Celts on the break.

Although Clarke was forced into a couple of saves, they were comfortable enough for the Celtic goalkeeper.

As the half time break approached, the Bhoys came close once again, this time via Mackenzie Carse. The midfielder’s low strike looked to be heading for the bottom corner, but it was tipped round the post and away for a corner.

Going into the second half, the Hoops made two changes at the break, introducing Justin Osagie and Thomas Hatton to the game on the right-hand side.

The latter of the two substitutes almost had an instant impact, with some direct play down the right but he just couldn’t pick out a team-mate inside the area.

Vata was also continuing to try and cause danger for the opposition backline, creating space for another strike. However, his low effort was well saved once again.

As the Celts attempted to push for a way back into the game, it was the home side who were able to take advantage in front of goal.

A low ball across the six-yard box landed at the feet of Lewis Duffy, who had the simple task of slotting the ball home.

With the game entering the closing stages, the Bhoys did eventually look to have found a way back into the game as Vata found the bottom corner with a well-taken first-time finish

However, just minutes later, Strollers would find the back of the net once more, as Innes Lawson rounded of the scoring.

After losing out on their travels in the capital this afternoon (Saturday), the young Hoops will aim to bounce back with another away visit to take on Berwick Rangers next weekend.

CELTIC: Clarke, Dede (Bonnar 62), Frame, Robertson, Agbaire, Ure (Osagie 46), Thomson, Kelly, Vata, Carse, Dobbie (Hatton 46).
    Subs: Morrison, Hale
