So desperate for anything that will improve our first 11 I went on Celticrumors.

Even those absolute fantasist bullshit merchants have ran out of whoppers.

This is shaping up to be an utterly tragic transfer window.
Even if we sign the Baron of Lager, we're gonna get * horsed in the CL.

 

TBH, that's more due to the expected tactical approach than a lack of high-profile signings. If we applied tactics used successfully by WGS and Lennon, we'd finish third at least.

 

Christ I thought I was panicking but * sake mate, it's hardly that bad. If we don't sign anyone between now and the end of the window, aye, it'll be a disgrace, but I'm sure that won't happen. We'll at least get a CB (Gus) and a LW, I think. I'll still be really disappointed if we don't get a GK, LB and CM, but it'll hardly be utterly tragic. Maik and Gus look like they'll properly improve our central defence, and I really like the look of Odin.

 

We definitely need at least one centre back and a new left winger and these two will need to be quality that can go straight into the first team (not projects or prospects). I would be surprised if we do not sign players for these positions.

Then ideally we should really be also looking for a new first choice keeper and possibly a left back and another striker too.

Also depending on who goes, if any two of Welsh, Yuki and Scales go then we need another CB. If Hatate goes we need another attack minded central midfielder.

 

You carrots are actually making me start to worry now.

A week or 2 ago, I had total confidence that we would make several excellent signings for the positions we need to replace/improve and I figured they would most likely happen on or near deadline day. Nothing has happened to disprove this idea or to make it less likely: given that I already thought the signings would be late, the current quiet is exactly what I expected to see.

And yet I'm starting to get nervous anyway.

 

I'm going the other way. As time races away, the task of adding what we need, now further compounded by another first team player going, just leaves to much to do in the time left. GK, LB, CM, LW and now another CB needed. Couldn't achieve this in 2 months. Highly unlikely to achieve in 2 weeks. If Hatate goes as well...doesn't even bear thinking about.

Don't see the business we've done so far, in terms of ins and outs falling in to the plan of progression. Could be surprised at what unfolds and I'll hold comment until the window closes, but it it's all very underwhelming so far.

Wouldn't be surprised if we end up signing just Gustaf to replace Starfelt. You guys keep asking for new signings, but at the end of the day we are capped at 17 non-homegrown players. We cannot add 5 new players on top of those we've already signed. Players like Yang, Kwon and Tilio may be uninspiring acquisitions, but they still count against the 17-man cap. Highly doubt we bought them to play for the B squad. Maybe Tilio misses the cut due to his injury, but I fully expect the korean guys to make the european squad.

CL football as a carrot for signings, then not included in squad..

However I don't think it will stop us adding.. LB Bernabei misses out, GK for Siegrist for example..

I blame this thread for everything negitive this summer, it all went downhill from this thread being created and every time it bumps more bad happens, lose the bad JuJu

 

If Hatate goes we need a couple of first team centre mids..

We all can see that we're slower when he's out the side and weaker. If he goes that leaves a gaping hole in midfield and us quite light in the middle depth wise..

I have high hopes for Holm. Looks unreal for me but it would still be unfair to ask him to take over from someone like Hatate this early on..

We STILL need a proper DM in there and Hatate leaving limits our options. Would be too much to ask Holm to suddenly replicate what Hatate does.

But BR should know well enough by now NOT to shoehorn players into positions. If Hatate does leave and we don't get a "replacement", then Rodgers should be more than capable of tweaking it tactically to make up for the loss.

A loss , imo, which wouldn't be as tragic as some folk on here like to pretend. Not domestically anyway.
Don't like any to lose a player if his quality, but if an offer came in of 20+ plus? Bye.

 

Hope you are right mate. I'd love us to replace Siegrist with a starting-calibre, ball-playing keeper. For instance, Kovar was a terrific option, but he's about to sign for Leverkusen. Hopefully, we have another target in mind. Don't see it though tbh. At the very least, Rodgers has never suggested we are looking for a keeper.

 

I don’t think we'll get a 6. McGregor is the choice there and looks like Holm will be the one to come on or get a chance if McGregor is out....and Kwon as the understudy to the understudy..

It's very likely we'll be going for a more box to box/creative type..

Maybe we could get an athletic, physical box to box type that would ease the pressure on having to get a defensive mid..

Need to get a move on now. Most are getting a bit impatient with big games coming up soon..

We've a chance to really take the * this season if we get motoring..

 

Tbh I'm at my wits end with this transfer window. Hurry up Celtic!
