Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

I don't think the huns quick business have helped matters with a lot of people either tbh.

At the same time, outside Danilo and Cifuentes, their business has largely consisted of Journeymen and Free signings, they also have qualifiers throughout August, which we don't. Imagine if we had signed the likes of Dowell or Lammers? I'd be fuming.

I'm in the same boat where I'd liked us to have signed at least one other major player by now (Republican did say we had a setback on LW, so maybe we were expecting a LW in by now) but I'm certain by the end of the window we'll be happy with our business.

We really are. It's no even as if it's a difficult thing to comprehend. Better quality players take longer to get over the line. Any football fan over the age of 12 should understand that ffs.

If Tierney is available for loan then we need to ask the question. He'd be a huge upgrade and sort the LB position out, even if it's only for the season.

 

Poor @Mr Shelby , started this thread off with a wilful hope of a real window that would define us going forward.

Now he must be like a mother deer , watching Bambi furiously fight against the current as it tips over the edge of the falls.

The first few pages were so hopeful from everyone. Big bucks, 5 first team starters, bedded in early.
Now it's like the * Purge in here. Happy Clappers and Panty Wetters circling eachother like it's a monkey knife fight on a pirate ship.

Shelby mate, if you make a thread called "crucial winter window" in a few months I'm sending a naked @blackfish round to yer hoose.

 

Both sides of this are going to the extreme here.

Firstly, the business we have done has been unimpressive. That’s not to say the signings won’t be impressive, Yang, Holm and Nawrocki have looked good signings and shown glimpses of promise.

I expected a bit more though at this point of the window. I think we should have prioritised a Goalkeeper and a left back. It was glaringly obvious from our first competitive game of the season that these positions need upgraded IMMEDIATELY.

That said, there isn’t a genuine need to completely panic. There is still plenty of time left in the window. I would like us to start splashing some cash though. It lays down a marker.

I do feel we are waiting for clubs to make final decisions on players. We clearly have targets and are playing it patient. Hoping we can pull off deals like we did with Jota and CCV, guys who weren’t fancied at their particular clubs and were surplus to requirements by the time the end of the window came.

That said, there are goalkeepers and Left backs out there who are available now and are within our budget. Happy to wait for another box to box midfielder or a left winger. The GK and LB positions need dealt with yesterday and that is frustrating.

 

Think we're forgetting how difficult it is to win a treble. It's a tremendous achievement.

A new number 1 now has to be the absolute priority, Hart has been a great signing but the writing is on the wall now with him unfortunately.

If we can get Tierney on loan * go after it, loan him for the season get CL Groups secured again for next season and then splash 15m on a permanent for him next year…. Boom
