First 20mins he was brutal, losing every battle and got skint constantly. Was better after the goal but still he’s too small for a physical battle and too slow to get forward and support the attack. May as well play Berni.

 

But Bernabei can't defend. That's not always a problem domestically, but it can be. We almost dropped points a few times last season because Berna was being exploited.

Neither can Taylor, he got skint several times off that donkey White.

 

Taylor is a * sight more reliable than Bernabei. Which is why several games that Berna started last season, Taylor replaced him so that we could see out the 3 points. We're likely not winning that 4-3 game away to Hearts if Berna stays on the pitch for example.

I do agree though that it's a position we should be looking to upgrade. Bringing in a LB with the blend of athleticism and defensive ability Ali Johnston possesses could make a difference in Europe.

 

Taylors work rate is underrated. Guy runs his socks off and is always looking to go forward. Lacks a bit of pace and defensively could be stronger, but is a key part of the way we play. Missed him badly against the Huns last year when he had to go off.

 

He was key under Ange, yesterday it was clear we need an athletic attacking left back and Taylor isn’t it. Not faulting him, he suited Anges style and was brilliant.

 

Totally agree. Taylor should be at left back for us what Ralston is at right back a really good back up there. Bernabei just cannot defend a lick. I do actually think Bernabei is pretty good going forward. I wonder is it possible he could play as an out and out left winger? Either way he just cannot defend so as a left back he is a definite no for me and we should sell him if possible I would think.

 

If we are to kick on as a team, we have to upgrade the LB position, its an area that opposition managers will target-especially in Europe.

 

We writing a player off that has been key for us the last 2 seasons? Agree we need another LB to push Taylor and we know that Rodgers has improved players performances in the past.

 

We all love his commitment (which all the players should have playing for our club) but he is caught out too many times due to his lack of pace and height. Bernabei is not an option as he is also caught out due to the same problems as Taylor and, worryingly, it's a position we have not addressed properly since KT left the club.

 

He worked well in Ange's system but has been getting done for pace all pre-season, county's second goal at the weekend they just cut in past him like he wasn't there to get the shot away. Nobody is denying how solid he's been, but he's just less suited to the more traditional FB role we seem to be playing now.

 

Not writing him off but he’s seriously flawed as a traditional attacking full back. You could see on Saturday even against Ross County he was done for pace and size all game. Then doesn’t have the pace the get up and down the line like we need.

I’d put him in the Ralston category, he can do a job but wont be first pick.

 

We need more height and pace at left back in my opinion. Taylor is OK domestically but we’ll get shafted down his side in the CL.

We absolutely need an upgrade.
