Work to be done. He won't be happy with the overall performance but I think it's clear the players will take some time to get used to things he's looking for.

I also think he should now have had more than enough time to assess what's needed.

Need some serious activity transfer wise now.

It took like six games for us to click under Ange even with a full preseason so not too worried on that front. There are some things time won't address though. Taylor and Hart aren't going to get better at their roles, we need upgrades there. It's exciting seeing what he's doing with Kyogo though, bringing out a whole other element to his game.

Disappointed oh didn't get on either but it was glaring that he wanted to play maeda at some point through the middle and he wasn't gonna bring oh on to play outwide

To be fair to him, when you've got Taylor, Ralston, Turnbull and O'Riley starting I can't imagine it being anything but slow. Hopefully he realises Turnbull and O'Riley aren't the most effective together.

It's something I expect to see us improve in once we sign some players + bring Johnston back into the fold.

We look a lot better with our two 8's and kyogo movement was sublime. That will open up plenty of opportunities in Europe. Probably need a bit more from our wingers to get them a bit more involved in the right positions. Full back we were shocking but you can't blame Ralston. Think we could see lot more changes in the middle park around the hour mark with Rodgers like we saw postecoglu done with his wingers. If I was pushing the boat out it be for a top top notch 8.. that's where we will currently get most bang for our book under Rodgers.

Only early but I hope he doesn't change what made us so good previously..

    Intensity and a quick tempo..

It was far too slow today. Was the same first half im midweek as well..

I also find it bizzare how he's came back as the big coup and been happy to have no real statement signings in before we've started the league. The squad as well as the support could do with a boost and seeing some top quality coming in the door..

I'm no sure why he'd be content to wait quite a while. I know the window is open a month in to the season but still...it's a bit strange..

I wouldn't be worrying mate, there's no doubt the tempo will improve when reinforcements are brought in. As I said to Lewis earlier, it can't be easy to maintain a fast tempo when you have Taylor, Ralston, O'Riley and Turnbull all playing.

As for signings, I feel like we were expecting another in by now, but I think this'll be the last quiet week, I think we'll start to see some solid rumours over the next fortnight.

Everything Brendan Rodgers had to say to Sky Sports following Celtic's 4-2 win over Ross County at Celtic Park...

Brendan, well done. What are your thoughts on the overall performance on today?

I think the result was a good result. I thought Ross County started very well and I thought we were slow to start. I thought we had some really good moments with the ball, but we need to be much better against the ball. We conceded two goals where we have to be better and some of the half chances - especially in the first half. but I think it's what you expect a little bit. It's never going to be perfect in the first game but what's important is to win and when we played well, we showed some great moments with the ball but collectively we'll get better.

What do you put that down to?

Just the time of the season, it's the first game. Players are still finding their fitness. Tony Ralston's first 90 minutes he's played, Cameron Carter-Vickers has just joined us in training and Maik Nawrocki is just in the door so it's just guys getting up to speed and fitness. Like I said, it's always good whenever when maybe you don't play to the top of your game, but you can win will, you give Ross County and Malky Mackay credit as well because they came here and made it very difficult with their man-marking style. It's tough to play against and you have to really work hard to find the spaces, but when the players did that, they scored some very good goals.

We mentioned David Turnbull before the game, how pleased were you with his performance?

Yeah, he took his goals well. He's very efficient, David obviously, the penalty was very cool, and he was there at the back-post and he finishes from a great cross from Matt O'Riley and should have had another one with a good run into the box. I think that's David's game, he is very good on the ball and his timing is very good and he can finish so I'm pleased for him.

Just finally, Carl Starfelt came on but does he have a long-term future here or could he leave in this window?

Yeah, Carl could leave and obviously hence the reason for not starting him. It might be something that goes through next week, but we shall see. He's obviously been a fantastic servant here and he's a great guy and really committed, but there are reasons why he may want to move on, but we'll see how that looks

To be honest I agree with everything here. Just not got me going so far - style of play hasn't quite convinced me yet, and we've been slow in the transfer market. Plenty to do before I'm fully on board.

You're spot on there. To quicken it up we'll need quicker players..

To create more we'll need more creativity brought in..

We just lack a bit more quality than we had last year and we all knew that to kick on we'd need more. Now with Starfelt going we're gonna be even weaker. Then you add in Johnston being out for a length of time and Ralston in. Hart regressing at an alarming rate.....it isn't ideal..

I'm no overly worried....more frustrated by our lack of work done so far. I do actually think we'll get there/things moving but for me.....it should've been done sooner..

It has to be the last quiet weekend. Ideally we get 2 or 3 in over the next week or so..

The football we played in his first spell when we had Roberts, Dembele and Sinclair up top was sensational. Re-creating something similar would be nice

It's a choice you're making, though. I know there are some things in life that are arguably unforgivable (or at least it's not within people's power to voluntarily forgive them) but those are things like hurting a member of your family not taking another job midseason. What Rodgers did, you can choose to forgive (or not).

So my question is, what benefit are you getting from holding onto this? You can just let it go and you will enjoy the season more for basically no downside.

Just let it go. You can always pick it all back up again when De Zerbi takes over at Spurs and Rodgers goes to Brighton in March ha ha.

According to what I could find on Google, our net spend on transfers is still around minus £15 million this summer and we already had money available even before Jota, so I don't know why people are panicking. Our most exciting signings this summer are yet to come. I'm genuinely expecting another £20-25 million worth of signings still to come.
