Daizen Maeda

Yeah it's a fair comparison but Maeda is far more aggressive imo.

 

Maeda has a place at this club but as a backup striker and out wide in tough games.

At home vs a Ross County while we have 90% of the ball and they have everyone behind the ball we don't need Maeda. We need a Jota type who can beat a player or put in a good cross or do something unexpected.

Away vs the Huns we still need the Jota type but we also need the Maeda type who doesn't give the opposition a seconds peace as they try and build something.

Cup final is the prime example of what I'm saying. Ange swapped it at half time as maeda strong suit is not what was needed.

As a backup striker tho bringing him on to run like a mad man vs tired centre backs could do well.

 

He’s got reasonable touch and control, what he majorly lacks is composure and especially on the left.

He’ll just be a form player where he’s fantastic or *, there’s not real in between with him but you can guarantee is a * load of running. A good option for open games to get in behind.

 

Playing Kyogo for 60 mins and then replacing him with Maeda for the final 30 would cause tiring defenders all sorts of problems domestically.

However, the question then becomes where does Oh fit in? So unless Rodgers is going to play with 2 up top fairly regularly, I think we'll still see a lot of Maeda on the wing.

 

He's going to be very good under Rodgers. Looking a bit more comfortable on the ball so far.

Been one of our best players in pre season. Looks sharp as *.

 

Bringing in a quality left back capable of overlapping will bring his game on even more.

 

He was incredible today. Every time he touched the ball he looked so assured and confident. His first touch was far better than it's ever been in a Celtic shirt. If he can maintain that form this season he will be immense for us.

 

We go in to any level of European competition with this guy in the team and we deserve everything we get.

Shocking lack of fundamentals. A Celtic winger that canny trap or shield a fitba. So difficult to watch.

 

Awful today, which surprised me because he was excellent in pre season.

We still need a replacement for Jota, especially if Yang will be playing on the right.

 

So disappointing after a good pre-season. He's never, ever a winger.

Needs to play back-up to Kyogo.

 

Aye, he's 100% a CF..

The fact we've not signed a LW yet, is the only reason he's there.

 

Thought he was ok today. Should have had an assist aswell.

 

At least he had the decency to give Daizen a Reach around
