Is Bernabei better suited to a Brendan team than Taylor, and if so would it be worth considering moving Greg on for a first choice left back.

I'm not saying I'd do it, but the fact hes Scottish trained helps that he would be the one we keep.

Think it's fair to say our signings made so far really are ones for further down the line and it would be unfair to expect any more from them in the short term.

That being said its a frightening thought this squad as it is going into the Champions League.

These next few signings really need to be players who are ready to improve the starting 11 from day 1.

Not getting a carried away but it did give me a little more confidence last night but we still need more first team quality. The players they played second half are never all gonna play together again this season most likely.

A Jota replacement is a must. There’s no one close to him in our current team. We need someone for these games when we are frustrated playing against 10 men parked in their own box which happens so often. He was the one who found a pass, cross, piece of skill , goal that would break through them. As good as Maeda and Abada are that’s jjsy not them.

 

Seen the difference when we had a keeper on that was good with the ball at his feet. We need someone like Bain, but a better version. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets a game until we sign someone, domestically anyway.

 

Not a sniff of a rumour from anyone. Celtic literally not letting anything out the now at all to anyone.

Either it's all really hush hush or thr targets are involved in qualifying matches or waiting towards end of window which we thought would be the case!

 

Sign starter ready players in all these positions and we'll have some squad.

Realistically I think we'll end up with 2 of the above, which is the bare minimum. 3 and I'll be pleased.

 

First 45 mins last night cemented a few things that have been clear for a while:

We need a new GK - Siegrist is horrendous with the ball at his feet

LB - Taylor caught out a few times and looked weak/slow up against their winger. Bernabei is hot and cold, we need someone who can come in and clearly own that role.

RB - Iwata got rinsed as well, giving the ball away countless time but tng he isn’t a RB by trade. Ralston was better than him 2nd half but I don’t want to be going into big games this season with Ralston as our back up RB.

CDM -Against good opposition with a strong press, Kwon crumbled and it made the rest of our midfield look ordinary. We are crying out for a proper CDM with experience in there to help McGregor out or allow him to push on.

Yeah it is preseason but it was the final game of it and we need to make assessments/judgements now. Less than a month until the window closes and we need to add 4/5 players on top of what we have if we are serious about Europe and maintaining complete domestic dominance.

 

We will have to tolerate just that, due to homegrown quotas. Bernabei will need to be used as a winger or sold. Iwata is a CDM- I've no idea if we are negotiating with another one.

I really hope a keeper, lb and lw are in the pipeline somewhere!.

 

Listen with the comments BR made about signings after the County game it leads me to believe that there are a few lined up ready to go.

 

I think a left winger may be the last signing as I don’t think we thought we would lose Jota. We were probably looking more at right wingers when Abada sounded like he was for the off.

 

I know some people might take offence to this but haven't we learned our lesson when listening to managers, especially Rodgers chatting *?

I'm not saying we aren't signing any more players, but this thread is rabid with expectations and predictions that have amounted to * all.

Personally, with the exclusion of Holm and The Rock, this is going to be a pretty * window, and ppl need to learn to manage their expectations.

The actual transfer section is a complete wet blanket of * nothing. Nada. Zip. Names pulled out of hats by zoomers on kds.

I've seen the. "we need a GK, a LB, a RW, a DMC, and a Striker" about 50 times on this thread. I'll be * amazed if we see two of those positions filled, with REAL, ready to start, money in the bank quality.

We've signed five players this window, not a * chance in * are we signing five more.

I can't remember who it was, but someone told me to bookmark their post that we were 100 percent signing a real Jota replacement, I'll have to go back and find it

I think Rodgers isn't sure yet on the general outline of the roster. Maybe Bernabei leaves, maybe it's Scales. Turnbull's looked decent, but may decide to leave for England etc. As stupid as this would be, I think Rodgers doesn't yet know where are the areas he definitely needs new players in.

 

There's some areas we know need improved, but. Jota left, we need a new left-winger. No indication that we're seriously linked with a player in that position.

I agree we should probably shift some deadwood first, but it doesn't even seem like the sort of players we might move on are linked with anyone. There's no much sign of movement in either direction. And we've still got a month to do but now's the time to get the ball rolling.
