Bricking it that we run with him this season coming.
Last season, decline was so evident. Half the goals he shipped last season a good keeper would have prevented.
Yesterday, he made shitloads of basic errors with the ball at feet. We will get crucified in Europe giving up possession so cheaply.
Just have to hope that moves are afoot to bring in a quality keeper.

I think he knows his position is under massive scrutiny, because he looked a bag of nerves yesterday. He hasn’t ever been great with the ball at his feet, but that was probably his worst performance in that aspect.

I like him..but its time to move on.

Any time there is a penalty as well he may as well leave the sticks.....really bad for penalty saves.

But who is out there that would walk into a CL team?

In theory, Livaković is a good GK we have been linked to. However, he has flaws too- one of them identical to Hart. We cannot rely on him distributing well, particularly not under pressure. Realistically, we should quit the idea of playing the ball on the deck in Europe.

I would be extremely happy with a trade off-a keeper who is brilliant at keeping ball out of net and is not good with ball at feet.

I believe the majority of us love big Joe as he is a huge personality in the team but he is becoming a liability who is always a heartbeat away from a * up. We need better.

You've gotta feel for him when he's getting stick off fans for playing out from the back despite being instructed to do so by his managers and clearly is something he's had to add to his game at a late stage of his career.

He's not ederson or Allison and even those guys make howlers every now and then playing that way. That Leipzig goal last year was a shocker but it's the only one in a big game that comes to mind.

For me, some of his near post mis-saves are more concerning. We should be bringing in his replacement this window for sure.

6 of one half a dozen of the other me.

    Love big Joe.

Consummate professional, great leadership qualities, and we're highly unlikely to see a keeper with his level of experience join our ranks.

That being said, I do think he's a confidence player, and he will have noticed the grumbling from a few fans, which might affect his performances.

That being said, BR is one of the best man managers is the game, and Stevie woods is a world class coach.
If we don't get a new keeper in, I'm more than satisfied Hart can do a job for us, even in the CL.

I wouldn't have an issue with Joe getting another season, if he was told he can just hoof it up the park, or into row "Z" if that's what he thinks is best.

Save the sweeper keeper carry on until we've got a keeper who can play that way.

Exactly. The issues with Joe are a matter of tactics as much as they are of ability.

Joe would be a great #2 but we need a new keeper pronto.

Have we been seriously linked with anyone?

If it was just a case of big Joe not being good with the ball at his feet then I would have a degree of sympathy, especially as that's what the manager want's him to do that however, I think we all seen for ourselves the number of soft goals he let in - especially at his near post last season and he is also slow at coming off his line to claim high balls into his 6yd box. Definitely need a new GK in if we want to progress in Europe as well as retain our league.

We have 4 weeks to fix the issues in the team and goalkeeper is the main one and hopefully something happens soon .
A left winger to replace Jota and a quality left back with Taylor as back up .

Threads are starting to become polluted with this sweeper keeper pish.

No offence, but didn't we already try that shenanigan on Rodgers' first go around?

    Anybody remember De Vries?

Anybody remember Craig * Gordon trying to pass the ball with his feet? Nevermind the millions of other deficiencies in that * diet Hun * game?

Would you really trust Rodgers to sign another keeper? Seriously?

Joe Hart isn't being paid a massive amount of respect on here tbh.

He's a more than capable keeper. Commands his area well, and has the trust of the men in front of him. Leader on and off the pitch, and still more than capable of being a CL keeper... Especially if you look at the * options out there.

Ppl need to wise up. The last "keeper" we spunked big money on was Barkas.

Now * are calling Hart a "liability" and all sorts of other *.

Be careful what you wish for.

Rodgers has no involvement in scouting our targets.. beyond giving the eventual greenlight to sign...as a result it isn't about trusting Rodgers to sign another GK.

Two if you can't see the decline in Hart's reaction time and near decrepit movement when put under any pressure.. what are you watching ?

Hart is solid enough but I do think you can see him slowing down and bringing in a new keeper now is important. I've said it before try and improve your keeper while you have a decent one as back up. If the keeper comes in and fails we do have a decent back up and can try again in a year. His contract finishes next year anyway to be honest so he will need replacing.

I certainly watched De Vries... Who he PERSONALLY signed.

I also watched Gordon... Who he made number one after De Vries proved he could catch a cold.

You think we have a keeper on the target list? With three already incumbent and who nobody wants to sign?

Calling Joe Hart "decrepit" is also VERY poor form. As well as inaccurate.

He pulled off some fantastic saves last season. But more importantly, he commands his area and backline superbly.

Getting back to the ORIGINAL point, go ahead, whether it be Rodgers (De Vries/ Gordon) or the club (Barkas)... Be careful what you wish for.

I reiterate, Hart is quite literally the best option we have right now.

A REAL keeper , that can operate in today's modern game to the mad as * expectations on here, would cost upwards of 30 million... At LEAST.

I got one would not want to risk losing Hart for a gamble on a 3m keeper from * knows where, especially given our history.
Hart is here to play. He NEEDS to play. He's that type of keeper.

It's funny we never heard a * peep about him being "decrepit" and " past it" and all this * last year.

I'll wait, until a real prospect is identified and seen as a viable option, before I start this " we need a new keeper asap" pish.

    We NEED a new LB.

    We NEED a new Winger.

    We NEED a new DM.

We don't "need" a new keeper.

I think the main frustration for me with not upgrading our goalkeeping position so far is that it seems to be the absolute best time to do it. Every man and their blind dog can see that Hart is starting to decline. Not using this as a stick to beat him with, either. No one can beat Father time. He's gave us 2 excellent years but there were times last year he let the side down and that's why we need to improve on him.

It's also the best time for a different reason. He only has a year left on his contract, which means he won't be a number 2 for very long and if you're to believe people behind the scenes, some teams in the MLS are interested in taking him on for a couple of years in the winter window. So, he wouldn't even be a number 2 for 6 months. He can play second fiddle for 5 months, chipping in with some games in the cups and standing in for any potential injuries. I'm sure someone as professional as him would understand the way the game works, he has said as much.

Look, I've only seen a youtube video of him but that Kovar from Man Utd looks absolutely * perfect and for £6m? He seems an absolute bargain. Winning the league over in Czech Republic with a less fancied team, seems excellent with the ball at his feet but very good in between the sticks. He's also young and with Man Utd, we know he's never going to play. EVER. It's the perfect deal for both of us.

Get Kovar in, let Hart leave in January/February so that we don't keep him around as a number 2 for very long. Show him some loyalty, allow him the chance to move on for nothing and end on excellent terms with a fantastic professional who has significantly helped us during a period of uncertainty. It also means we can spend the next 6 months looking for another goalkeeper to come in and be a number 2 or fight it out with Kovar.

I can almost understand not upgrading left back right away, I believe we are waiting until the last moments of the window to see if we can get Tierney(just an opinion) but it's really frustrating me that we haven't upgraded our goalkeeping situation. It's not just that Hart is declining, it's that NONE of our current goalkeepers are good enough to play for us.

Starting to become extremely frustrated by the lack of movement.

I think a lot of us love big Joe as he is a such a easily liked big guy and there's no doubt that he has made some tremendous saves for us however, I think we all saw for ourselves that he was letting a few soft goals in last season and I don't think he commands his 6yd box as well as he should. Unfortunate we have totally fecked up with the likes of Barkas and De Vries in the past and it's a hard job trying to find another Artur Boruc or Fraser Foster but, if we want to progress in Europe and retain the league, then we definitely need a new GK
