The one position I think we could really do with, that I haven't seen mentioned so much is an out-and-out attacking midfielder. Someone with a bit of skill and guile, that can open up a stubborn low defensive block when we aren't getting any joy out wide.

Aye? Think Haksa, Hatate, O’Riley and Turnbull are all very comfortable at that. *, Calmac spent a long time playing there as well.

Dunno what Odin’s like yet either but think he’s more an 8 by the sound of it.

Whilst there is plenty of time I'm still not overly impressed starting the league way under strengthen foe the opening games.

Any new players after Ross County will not be bedded in for weeks, and whilst I'm not sure about injuries and likes, just going off reports there is a possibility of going in minus Jota, Mooy, Johnston, CCV, Starfelt, Nawrocki.

The new players brought in are foe the future so don't see them making a massive impact on the 1st team.

Think we have Aberdeen week after away, no new faces for that.

I agree it's needed. Don't think we'll get it this window though if I'm honest.

At this stage if we get a proper GK and LB in I'll be pleased. A winger and a 10 on top of that I'll be delighted.

Rodgers comments to me suggest 1 of 2 things.

We know who we want and maybe they won't move until after CL qualifying at their current club or some other reason but we know what we want.

    Or

We really are struggling to convince people to come to us and we've already had a few knock backs but still trying.

I'm hoping it's the first one but would much rather have players in and games in the team before we play vs huns as right now our strongest team vs them will be a weaker team than we had last year. This is assuming one of the new boys doesn't hit the ground running which they might but would be unfair to expect from them.

Think all of them bar Turnbull are more suited to playing a bit deeper. I'd like someone like Rogic or Lubo. That's if BR is planning to play with 2 deeper midfielders and an out-and-out 10.

Brendan Rodgers insists Celtic won’t be rushed into adding defensive reinforcements despite a growing injury pile-up.

The Hoops boss revealed Yuki Kobayashi will be sidelined for several weeks with three other first team centre-halves, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt and new arrival Maik Nawrocki all absent from Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wolves in a glamour friendly in Dublin. As Athletic Bilbao get set to arrive in Glasgow for a final run-out for the Scottish champions ahead of their flag day Premiership opener against Ross County, Rodgers is hoping his treatment table clears in the next few days.

But the Irishman doesn’t believe any new signings will arrive before the clash with the Staggies as he delivered a roll-call of who isn’t currently available for duty. . He said: “Carl twisted his ankle, so he couldn’t travel. Hopefully he’ll be okay for Tuesday. Kobayashi will be out for a few weeks. He obviously got injured in one of the games in Japan

I think it was important we brought some players in early on to settle them and allow them to adapt. I didn’t want to wait for people to go before bringing people in.

“But we’d hope we can add some more before the window shuts. Probably after (the Ross County game), there’s still a long way to go in the window.”

The hope he expressed probably means it's the latter, sadly enough.

I know a lot of us were all having a sort of joke about Lawell being back and how it could see us reverting back to the usual nightmare scenario around signing players etc. but, I now think as the days and weeks progress, a lot of us are now beginning to genuinely fear that scenario again. Several first team players probably missing the league opener and, who knows, the Aberdeen away game the following week shows just how a few injuries can weaken our team. If we really consider ourselves as a top top team competing in the CL then we need to be ready for injuries to key players.

    Ah, Twitter.

For 1 thing, that's an incredibly sweeping statement for that person to make. As has been discussed by several posters above, quite a lot of our business was still done on deadline day when Lawwell was away, probably even a majority if you don't count the Japanese players Ange knew personally (and Ange maybe also had some contacts in their clubs).

Secondly, it's not clear at all that we're not still being quite efficient now. None of us know what's happening behind the scenes.

Thirdly, it doesn't matter how healthy our financial position is, we still need to get these deals right: we need the right signings and we need not to pay over the odds for them. Otherwise, we'll stagnate or even regress.

Understand sometimes you have to wait for a player to make up their mind, but don’t think I’d be happy waiting on CL qualifiers for the player to see if they have better options

I definitely feel we are weaker at the moment than last season, hopefully the new guys hit the ground running and become first team regulars, maybe I am being naive I am hoping that some top players come in very soon.

I do think we'll be looking down south, maybe see two or three come from there later in August.

Any Leicester players still to move on? Could be looking to take a couple from there late in the window.

    Tierney too, of course.

I think we are trying but I'm trying to win the lottery it just depends how much we are prepared to pay in fees and wages. We have to trust with our finances we are going beyond our normal limits.

The league will always be there for us with our squad but we will also continue to be champions league cannon fodder as well which is no fun

Any chance we move for Luke Thomas or is he out of our price range? Rodgers loved him and he's a left back.

    Ideally I'd want:

First choice goalkeeper - prefer Siegrist to move.

First choice left back - prefer Bernabei to move on

**First choice attack midfielder** - feel we are well covered now in the 6 - 8 roles but not so much in players that can play the 8 - 10 role. Feel O'Riley and Turnbull are best suited to the role. So ideally its Turnbull that makes way for this player.

First choice left winger - Haska i guess a player that can play a 10 or left winger would be the player id be must keen to make way in the squad for him.

** I think the club are expecting a club to come in for O'Riley or Hatate before the window shuts. If doing so they would keep Turnbull for very fact hes Scottish and is an asset in the league, and we would be replacing one off the above. So expecting this as a driver in delaying that last midfield player too. Just my 2 cents worth **
