Getting someone better than Kyogo is nonsense talk. Yes continually look to improve the team but Kyogo is our best player so there is little need to focus on centre forward when we have Kyogo, Oh and Maeda.

You'd think scouts would ask the manager to look at candidates that have been proposed for a certain position. Either managers don't look at highlights, or they can't identify what player traits the new signing has to have. Regarding injuries- we're guilty of taking risks on players with a past of big injuries, because they're cheaper. At least we should do an extensive medical before signing them.

That to me seemed to be his point.

We should be looking to continually improve every position on the pitch at all times. Buying someone specifically to compete for 2nd 3rd 4th choice in any area of the pitch is false economy.

There are crowds this time and everything that could have went wrong for us, did go wrong. They were truly unique circumstances.

    Won't happen this time round.

True point that it's frustrating as on the outside it looks like Rodgers hasn't really arrived with any players/markets in mind.

Can only assume it's the massive wage/budget difference between here and Leicester, as opposed to Ange coming from Yokohama could afford anyone he realistically had his eyes on previously.

Yep. He just doesn't know how to work with a smaller budget. Tete was an attempt, and I believe we've made an approach, but he wasn't interested. It would have been interesting to see whether Ange would have gone for a "big" signing had he stayed, and whom would he have in mind.

So tell me, someone please... what is different to Ange's first transfer window compared to Rodgers return?

Because right now, I really don't see why anyone should be concerned... it isn't even August.

My stance remains that, let's see where we are at after August 15th.

Ask Ange as he was clearly * off at the lack of signings

I think the big difference is that by this point we were out of the CL and not expecting to qualify anyway. This season we are, so have the money from that and have done for 2 seasons. We have also already sold a player.

Recruitment is done by a team and the team is very different now. What we actually know is that Rodgers and Congerton as a team couldn't work with a smaller budget. Let's see how he does this time. I don't believe for a second the idea that some people (including me) used to have that Rodgers "can't spot a player". How does it work that he supposedly can't spot whether someone is a good player but he demonstrably can spot what a player needs to improve and how to help him do so? It doesn't make much sense.

Well, many players in the clubs he's managed have been flops. At Liverpool, there was a transfer committee in charge of signings.

I get that, but do we really need to be spending big money, because we have big money.

I say that relative to what big money would be considered as within the economics of the Scottish game.

I don't think it is as easy as some other expect, for us to go out and sign players that would command transfer fees that are North of £9million which isolated we can afford the real issue is then wages that come with a player that has that type of price tag to start with.

I appreciate we should be seeing some scaling up of that type of expenditure but our very best players or even our captain can't be on anymore than £50k a week and I feel like I'm being incredibly generous there... so to sign players who want more than that is going to be a problem.

I think people need to chill and show patience, let us see where we stand come mid August as I'm confident we will sign another 3 players with a likely spend for them being totaled at £10mill/£15mill. Aside from what we've already spent

    This is it for me.

Let's say our number one target in a certain position costs 8/9 million. His agent might say x club from better league is interested. He might be third choice on their list and will hold out to see what happens.

This is the way it is going to be if we are serious about moving up a level.

However if, as some have said, we are still no further forward in 4 weeks then I reserve the right to throw frozen mars bars at the directors box.

I don't think it will come to that.

we don't need to spend money but we do have more money to not worry about 500k or 1m here and there on transfer fees or an extra 5k for salaries. It feels like we've waited ages and last minute business can cost points. Just look at the back 4 for today and who is on the bench for defence with only a week til we start

Considering that the real stuff starts in earnest next week, that back line has definitely made me start to worry. I just hope we get a couple of established players in over the next few days.

Not sarcasm, remember when Ange first joined he said a few times in interviews that he wants signings in faster and obviously hasn’t done a good enough job of convincing people above him that he needs players.
