I know Tierney went last season with Arsenal without injury, but didn’t he go off injured a couple of times playing for Scotland? Sure he did.

Plus he probably never got injured at Arsenal because he didn’t play all that much.

I’d have him back in a heartbeat but there’s definitely a concern there.

Nah, you wouldn't want him to play every game no player can, well apart from McGregor it seems..

    Taylor could definitely help..

However, it's always been a bit of non-starter for me..

At 26 he’s not going to come back here, Newcastle will sell a few players first then get him. In 4/5 years time I can see him coming back but not just now.

He wouldn't be. Great player when fit mind but injury prone and financially for all....it makes zero sense..

It's important to note that he had surgery at the start of last season which apparently has helped with his recurring injuries. I know he didn't play every game last year, but still played a considerable amount and didn't pick up any injuries.

As much ad I'd like it hopefully doesn't come back here. Probably fitter than he's been in a while and that wouldn't last 4 games here after a few bruising encounters no doubt.
Better for him to stay in epl.

You just have to ask yourself: if this wasn't KT, would you want him? An injury-prone 26-year-old who would command a high wage and have little to no sell-on value in a few years?

There's no doubting his ability; but that's only one criterion out of many for a viable signing within our model.

You could change your negative spin to a positive one though also and say would you take one of the best left backs in the world? Still only 26 years old willing to take an huge cut in wages and was class in his previous spell here and would fit our system perfectly? I doubt it will happen but if there was a chance of it we’d be mental to pass on it

One of the best left backs in the UK (the world?) for maybe 2 or 3 more years... if he can keep himself free of injury.
Also, where does it lead in the long term? Even if he stays fit, we'll get a bigger fee in 3 years for a young left back we've developed than we will for a 29-year-old KT (indeed we'll get no fee at all for KT if it's just a loan).

We've done too much of this sort of short-term thinking. The money is better invested elsewhere.

Edit: genuine question: do we know for certain Rodgers is definitely going to ditch the inverted FB's? From what I heard, the main reason Zinchenko was keeping him out of the Arsenal team was that KT didn't/doesn't really suit that role.

Tierney is up there with the best in the world sure he was linked with Madrid and the likes. Who cares about the fee aswell we already got 25m from him before if we could get him back for half that he could be our main left back for the next 10 years all considering. Regardless of what way we play he’d be our best full back 100%.
Having a stronger team gives us stronger chance of CL groups and therefore more money aswell. Stability etc. look like I said I doubt we will get him but we would be mental if we turned our heads from it

No chance we're getting him. And no chance he'd go anywhere leaving Arsenal for half of the 25 mil they signed him for. He does love Celtic. He's a Celtic man. But he's an EPL player now and he'll move to an EPL club. When theres talk of Newcastle signing him and him being they're top priority then there's no way we're getting him.

Dont get me wrong.....if we could match whatever Newcastle are offering then I believe he would pick us over them. But realistically we'd be struggling to offer him a third of what he'd get at Newcastle......and thats just in wages......we have no hope in * of matching whatever transfer fee they'd be able to pay Arsenal for him

    100%.
Seen arteta say he’s in his plans for this season. Would like to see him get more game time and do well for them, a lot of the fans like him but just don’t see him shifting the zinchenko

Emery loves him but Digne wasn’t getting a game at Villa after they signed the Moreno from Betis. Doubt KT wants to go and play second fiddle to him when he could play second fiddle at us instead :fear:

They have some issues with FFP, although they've a * tonne of money it's gonna take a few years before they can spend big across the board so it seems like they're focusing on other positions.

Still can't see this happening tbh. Arsenal would rather he was on their bench than at us. His wages all but rule out a loan and his transfer fee would be £30m+ so it's a non starter unless he demands a loan to us for personal reasons and arsenal are willing to pay 75% of his wage.

If they agree to that they've more money than sense.

Don't get me wrong, ABSOLUTELY adore KT.

World-class LB, massive Tim and heart of a * lion.

But how much would we realistically see of him?

Rodgers ran him into the ground last time. He's been injury free for a while, but I'd say 3 months here in * Scottish surfaces, with BR running him like a coked up jockey, and he'd be crocked again.

There's LBs out there superior to Taylor, playing in leagues the level of ours, with modest fees and modest wage demands.

It * baffles me how we're still going in about this position, 4 years since KT left, and the best we've come up with is Laim Scales, who is a level below Taylor, and Bernabei... Who is as much a LB, as Barkas is a * goal keeper.

I could PayPal over Shelby a score note and he'd have 4 left backs in an hour.

    * are we doing exactly??

On the bench again today. Zinchenko isn't even in the squad and Arteta is starting Timber ahead of him, who primarily plays RB/CB.

Surely to * we've got to ask the question here? I know his wages are mad but Tierney will be warming his * on the bench all season again. He's effectively 3rd choice LB for them these days!
