Am counting 16 from that list that I reckon will be included, then Hart makes it 17.

I'd like to think we're working on gettiing a fair few fringe layers out the door, which will trim the squad down a bit.

From there there are still some on the list that would drop out the CL squad if we were to bring in high profile players. It seems a bit of a pain in the * at first but it's manageable imo.

I agree; but like you always say, though: why go to all the trouble to get Rodgers back in if they're planning to do that? A big-name (and big-wage!) manager and a slice of humble pie for Lawwell senior into the bargain? No way they're doing that for * and giggles IMHO.

There must be so many balls in the air right now (both in terms of signings we are working on and in terms of departures we need in order to make space!). That must be like playing the proverbial 3-D chess and whether we like it or not, the deadline is, er, deadline day not Aberdeen or Rangers away. We're looking more long-term than that.

If I'm wrong and this is our squad for the season the day after deadline day, then I'll be panicking as much as the next fan; but for now, I genuinely have total confidence.

 

What was refreshing about Ange was that business was always done early.

Leaving it this late looks like we have not planned well and any signings we make at this late stage would be to appease the fans rather than players that will be best for the system.

 

That's not strictly true, Jota and CCV were last week of window were they not?

 

Just a coincidence that it's also first window proper since that fat * Lawwell returned?

Aye, it's a complete myth we had our business all done early, signings spread across the whole window right up to deadline day..

 

Last day, along with Giakoumakis. Think most of the early deals that got done were extremely keen Japanese guys that were itching for a crack at Europe. Counts for a lot imo, AP's reputation in speedy transfers was mainly built on that factor.

 

CCV, Jota and Giakoumakis all done in last day of window for August.

Juranovic was 21st August.

O'Riley is announced on 20th Jan.

At the time of each signing, yes they had potential, but Giakoumakis is probably the only one that provable (albeit one season) stats to show he had a good chance of succeeding here.

People need to chill the * out...

 

Aye its a bit of a myth that we got all our signings done early under Ange.

Giakoumakis, Jota, Juranovic, CCV, Abildgaard, Haksabanovic, Hart all signed in August. Starfelt, Bernabei and Jenz were late July as well.

Our January windows were quick and efficient under Ange, and I'm guessing this is what people are referring to.

If it was mid August and all we signed were the current 5, I'd understand the worry, and I do still want us to pick up the pace, but I think people need to chill out a bit.
