Well our primary focus is continued domestic dominance and Rodgers was the best candidate available to us. I love that we’re aiming to improve in Europe as we always should be, but I’m also aware of how difficult CL level is. The weaker strength of our league massively hinders us when trying to make that step up. If we can agree upon what “making strides in Europe” actually is, that would be a good starting point. Qualifying from a CL group to get last 16 is a very very tough ask. Tougher still in the last 16, assuming we finish second behind a pot 1 team. Bear in mind we’re in pot 4, so we could easily end up with yet another nightmare group.

Third and a Europa League run? Hopefully. It would certainly be progress if we made it through a knockout round there.

Started 14 of 29 league games he was involved in
Stated all 4 league cup games he was involved in
    Started once in CL
Started 3 of 4 Scottish cup games

Played 1985 minutes total out of 3960 possible (2x additional league games on the bench not subbed on) works out as 50% of all available minutes

12th highest in minutes played in the team
    7th in goals scored
    Joint 3rd in assists

Pretty important part of the team there, I'd like to think Holm will be the direct replacement for him

There's legitimate concerns, and then there's the absolute raging hun * fantasy some type up every day on repeat, like we haven't signed any players and aren't going to sign any more.

Let me put a question to you then.

What happens if * forbid, we lose CCV to another club or even a long term lay off?

    As it stands, right now.

    What happens?

Thats the point I'm making about him, yes he contributed to the team, like most players. He wasn't a McGregor, CCV, Kyogo main stay, people are making out he was a 90 minute, week in week out mainstay. He wasn't, he was a squad player. Using him as leverage to say were weaker is just nonsense, just to fill the narrative off a defeat in a meaningless friendly. It's toys out the pram big time.

Inevitably, we would be forced to go sign another centre back.

4 projects.. Holm as a direct comparison has potential, but that's all we can say at the moment.

Mooy was a senior player who majorly contributed.. not exactly way out there to say we're weakened by his retirement...

Anyway, Mooy isn't the sole reason to why people are saying we're weaker.. not sure where you're getting that from.

There will always be a happy clapping contingent within our fanbase imo. Then when it inevitably goes * up in Europe because we haven't sufficiently strengthened they talk about it being too hard to compete etc.

No one is saying we should be qualifying from our CL group every year. But a decent run in the Europa should be a realistic aim when you consider the teams on a similar/lesser level to us who have went deep in the competition in recent times. The orcs got to a final just over a year ago ffs.

For that to have a chance to happen we need to recruit and recruit well. We've enough projects and deadwood to last a lifetime. Get the finger out.

Then we would have 7 weeks to replace him, like any other player that's to leave. Too many fans in a tiz off 1 friendly.

We are absolutely CERTAIN that more players will be signed.

The frustration which yourself and a couple of others are wilfully ignoring is the circumstances.

Ppl expected, wrongly or rightly, a continuation of the professionalism and efficiency in the transfer market we had under Ange.
We expected Rodgers to come in, having assessed the squad already, or close to it at least, with an idea of what he needed, and targets in mind, with business being wrapped up swiftly and players being bedded in as soon as possible to hit the ground running.

We've seen none of that. The opposite in fact.

We're two more defensive injuries away from a real crisis at the back, a midfield in need of a real DM, a replacement for our star winger, a new LB to compete with our ONLY lb, and a new GK.

    * do we do if Taylor or CCV get laid off?

    * do we do if Abada or Hart get laid off?

    But aye, "Hun * fantasy".

Not having real targets in place is how we * 10iar, signing pish like Laxalt, Duffy and Barkas.

Ppl have genuine fears that's where we are headed. Last minute deals on plan c signings because of a lack of planning and forethought.

In 7 weeks we'll be 4 and a half weeks into the new season.

You're content with us scrambling about the market looking for reinforcements whilst our main "competition" have their business wrapped up?

Well it's either him or Jota that's suddenly turned from treble winners to a complete car crash according to some on here.

Like I said and will say again, Jota was a once in a blue moon signing we knew that when he signed. I'm as gutted as the next to have seen him go, but no players irreplaceable. Mooy was a squad player again not irreplaceable.

If we start getting rid of the deadwood in bulk numbers without bringing anyone in I'll start to agree were getting weaker, but at the moment we've sold 1, 1 retired yet brought in 4? How can you be weaker? The project push doesn't wash either as Jota was a project when he first got here, yet managed to turn his career around.

We’re on a par with the efficiency of when we announced players under Ange.

    * the huns, they've signed complete nomarks. Watched the highlights of the Newcastle game. Route one punt and run pish. Their goal commentators claims he 'placed the ball into the net' he toe nashed it from 25 yards and the keeper spilled it. Dinni even worry about that load of *.

I'm quite confident that Koba, Starfelt, Welsh and to an extent Scales will have enough in the locker to get past the mighty Ross County.

I'd say he was considered a starter by the end of his time here, yea. Even if he wasn't, our starting 11 is still weaker without Jota.

At a macro level, our squad might be stronger overall with the additions but our 11 is definitely weaker.

Some just keep repeating the line he did his business early when we were still signing players all through august under him. It was only the winter signings from japan and AJ that were done really fast.

Siegrist and Bernabei were announced quite early last summer too, but unfortunately they’ve been a let down (so far). Haksabanovic was announced at the end of August. Abildgaard was brought in on 1st September but the less said about him the better. Carter-Vickers and Jota were sorted out early on permanent deals last summer, but we had the benefit of already having them at the club.

But as I’ve already said several posts ago, three of our best signings were announced at the start of September in 2021.

We could quite easily sign 11 * players in the first week of the window opening but obviously we want the best we can get. So far we’ve signed four. How good they’ll be remains to be seen but I’m optimistic based on the what I’ve seen, read and heard. There’s zero chance we don’t make more signings. Folk on here need a serious reality check.
