    Disagree.

Jota is undoubtedly a loss. Mooy is too but much less so due to the other midfielders we have.

I like the look of the players we’ve signed so far, especially Tilio.

Agree we need better than Bernabei. I would sell him.

As for ‘strides in Europe’, I’m not expecting much. The CL is going to be very very difficult for us.

People using the Mooy card is a bit lame tbh(not directed at you btw), he gave us about 8-10 good games, buildup to the world Cup he was terrible, lacked match sharpness after the WC he was decent but plagued by injuries. I dont think we will miss him in the slightest.

Why have you ignored the rest of the post?

I clearly stated that none of those 4 strike me, or most fans, as players who can immediately go in and strengthen the starting team. That's where the grumbling is coming from.

And at this moment we've actually signed two because we're dragging the * out of signing the two Korean players.

I thought he was a very astute signing tbh. Free transfer and vital to the way we played. Got 42 games out of him and imo many more than 10 good games. Retirement clearly the correct decision though, given the injury issues.

Suggesting we're not weaker because we only sold 1 and brought in 4 is what's crazy.

We sold one of our best players, definitely our best winger, and have brought in 4 project signings. There's absolutely no debate to be had - our starting team is weaker now than it was a couple of months ago.

And I think people are forgetting that Mooy is away as well. Arguably another first team starter.

Because it’s not relevant. The speed of our transfer dealings is pretty much on par with recent seasons.

Oh completely, was a great bit of business. But the myth some people are having that the current team with 4 signings in already is 'weaker' is nonsense.

I will still say that he had about 10 good stand out games for us though. Don't even think he started many more than that, was always off the bench pre WC.

I would say the starting eleven is weaker. Two starters have left.

We've not seen one of the players we've signed play yet, to make that assumption beggars belief. Granted Jota was a huge talent but he wasn't 1 man show. Nostalgia and truth are two different things.

Justifiably, I'm going by what Rodgers said when we arrived.. why bring him in if are aspirations aren't to improve in Europe..

Was Mooy a regular starter though? Really?

Happy to be proved wrong with stats btw.

Pre WC he was a bit part player, most fans wanted him punted before he went, come back and was a baller, then had niggling injuries which saw him retire. I'm not having a go at him, I think he was a very shrewd signing, which helped us, him and his country equally.

So if Man City sell Haaland tomorrow and sign 4 players from Eastern Europe or South America for £5 million a pop, they're still every bit as strong, if not stronger?

It's a ridiculous argument. We've sold our best winger and brought in a winger from Australia (who some Australians have even said they don't think he'll be a regular), a midfielder from the second tier in Korea, a young winger from Korea, and a 20 year old from Norway who is off the back of a middling season.

Don't get me wrong, I have high hopes for the Koreans and Holm. But to suggest that, simply because we haven't seen them, we are wrong in saying that our starting team is weaker beggars belief...it's madness.

Our defence hasn't been improved. Our midfield will still be the same for the foreseeable and our front 3 is currently weaker than it was. Maeda and Abada isn't as strong as Jota and one of those.

Also, absolutely nobody is suggesting it was a one man show. Bit of a strawman argument.

If we're going by stats, he was one of our highest contributing midfielders..

7 goals and 11 assists over 42 games.

Yet your first argument was to compare selling Jota to selling Haaland? I'll leave it there lol

On terms of the supposed "targets" we had set ie. A decent tilt at the CL, and at least, improved performances in Europe, then yes. We ARE very weak.

This squad as stands will get absolutely ripped apart in the CL.

Ppl need to get their * head out if the sand here.

Started 13 come on as a sub 16. In a season we scored most of our goals in the last 30 minutes.

I'm not denying that he was a good player for us, what I am denying is people using him retiring to say we are weaker although we've signed 4 players.
