Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Yup I think if anyone guessed back when BR came in about what new players we would have for the Japan tour we wouldn’t all thought a good few with a couple of ready made players.

Reality is we have 2 players in! 1 injured for months and the other a project. With only 2 weeks until the season starts and with our current defence the same as end of last season with injuries and it was a shambles. Still plenty time in the window and I’m sure we will get some important business done and go on a keep the title. But can see us playing catch up early on in the league. Never getting through these first few games unscathed with our current team.

 

And we don’t have Jota either.

 

Was all excited a week or so ago about the prospect of us making some marquee type signings but now beginning to get the same * feelings I used to get a while back when we “just missed out” on players. So come on Celtic, get yer finger out and give us all a lift and to add a bit of excitement to the “welcome to Celtic” thread

 

People bring it up all the time. I do think we should sign a Scottish trained player or two though - just not sure who.

 

Today only highlights even more that another 1st team ready Centre back of similar quality to CCV is an absolute priority.

For me if we were to only make 1 more signing this window (we won't) it needs to be a centre half.

 

GK, LB, CB, DMF...all quality and 1st team starters to be bought. Along with Tete.

 

Why does it feel like we're being so slow with transfers? I know there is ages left but still...

GK, CB, LB and LW. If we get quality in those positions we’ll be looking great this season, definitely needing more quality in depth.

 

Desperately need to get some players in. Dragging it out at this point.

Goalkeeper should be high on the list. Centre back, left back, winger and a midfielder.

Yep, LW is crucial as well. I do think Jun will be good but as it stands he's an unknown quantity and Jota leaves a massive hole in this side.

 

Nothing we didn't already know..

We're still quite weak at the back, particularly when Carter-Vickers and Johnston are out..

We really should be signing someone to take over from Hart as father time catches up with everyone..

Midfield we still need a bit more pace and power as it can be bypassed easily on the counter particularly..

In no order

Keeper
Left back
Much better centre half options to at the very least compete with our first pairing
A defensive mid or an 8 who can drop back and go box to box with some dynamism and physicality
A couple of wingers

Plenty work to be done. I'm sure the manager already knew this before today..

 

Are you genuinely convincing yourself we're signing no more players this window and today's starting lineup will be the same for our CL games?

 

Honestly I would hate to think so but with us you never know.

At this stage it's not how many players it's the quality we need

Probably because our main rivals have been very active and we've lost two first team players too.

 

If you look back at the start of this thread in May those are the same 4 positions most were calling out for.

2 weeks till season starts and still needing all 4.

Ita been a really poor transfer window so far.

I get theres still bout 6 weeks to window shuts but guys should of been on the plane to Japan. The previous 3 transfer windows have shown the benefit of getting deals done early and getting players settled in.
