Avoided this and most other transfer related threads as its easy to get swept up in it all. I try to keep things simple when seeing the progress we're making, and the marker is always the preceeding transfer window. Are we stronger than we were in January. At this moment in time that's a no. Granted we're only around half way through the window.

A change of manager is always unsettling and the biggest change that would affect the team and style. Thankfully it's not a step back and a complete unknown, but it's definitely setback in terms of transfers and time lines. Rightly BR wants to assess things and he may have already said no to potential deals down the line despite the ones signed already.

Mooy retiring and Jota going are big losses also. Goals and assists and creativity from Jota will be hard to replace and Mooys experience, calmness and technical ability and a penalty scorer again hard to replace for decent money. Gotta give the new lads time to settle and establish themselves, but all 4 (including 2 not officially in from South Korea) are all in the bracket of prospects.

No panic at all and there's plenty time to get the quality in, and it's clear certain positions need addressed, but it would be better to get them in and settled prior to league business getting underway.

Much work to be done, especially when you factor in getting rid of deadwood we have as well.

    This.

It actually grew from this belief that Rodgers was promised the world by the moustachioed *.

The truth is probably somewhere in between.

Rodgers had been knocked back by Palace and realised his stock had properly dived in the EPL. Celtic is a good option to rebuild that.
But the notion that we have 70odd million to give him is lunacy. All this proper "crack at the CL" is 1990's Teletext headlines pish.

If any assurances were given over budgets, they most likely in the realm of "we promise we won't haggle over pennies again. Sorry about McGinn etc etc."

Doesn't change the fact that quality is needed, in at least 3 positions, and it was needed weeks ago.

Ideally yeah, you get players in early to settle, but how often does that actually happen? People on here (and twitter moreso) like to panic and flip tables because we don't have marquee signings done by the end of june, and the favourite line this summer has been "ange did his business early" which just isn't true, Kyogo signed about this time in july, CCV, Jota, JJ, GG were through august right up to dealine day. The player we spent most on earliest was bernabei, he came in june and having that extra time to settle in didn't make him a better signing. Considering we don't have qualifiers this year, people are just panicking for the sake of it at this point, especially pointing at the huns doing business early, they're scrambling to get a team together for the qualifers, I won't assume all their new players will be duds, but it's equally daft the people assuming that their business is better than ours because it's fast. They needed to do their business fast, we don't.

Decent level players that we're willing to spend big (for us) on will have other options to weigh up and won't be in any rush to jump at the first bit of interest.

Mate, you need to calm down. You’ve been paranoid as * the last few weeks. So much conjecture and hyperbole.

Still plenty of time for additional signings. You’re acting like we’ve done nothing.

Reading the article back again it ties in with what a lot of the rumours have been.

I think we have offers out to the higher profile players but as you'd expect it's taking longer.

Meantime looking to trim the squad whilst bulking with talented young players.

I'd expect August to be busier in terms of money spent.

Seen you mention this a few times. Is there anything to confirm this?

Spot on buddy. Let’s make at least 2 marquee signings and watch the tramps crumble.

In no particular order, a little more power in midfield, a top keeper, a left-sided defender and another striker. Job done.

    Hail Hail

Wee bit disappointed the Korean boys havent been announced yet, both clubs confirmed they were gone at the weekend, and I understood not announcing them yesterday as perhaps they haven't met up with the squad yet.

Expect them announced tomorrow or Thursday now, but it does essentially mean we're in for another quiet week regarding other rumours.

    New keeper

    Johnston
    Carter-Vickers
    Starfelt
    New left back

    McGregor
    Hatate
    New centre mid

    Tete
    Kyogo
    Ferreira

Would be very happy with something similar to this. Some dominant players in the left back and centre mid positions up for grabs...as well as a commanding keeper..

Would leave very good options in

    Hart
    Taylor
    The Korean trio
    Iwata
    Holm
    O'Riley
    Abada
    Tilio
    Maeda

Would only really need centre halves to genuinely challenge the main pairing now..

I actually think the Korean winger and Holm will surprise us this season. Both look to have the tools to make an impact..

Just can’t get enough Depeche mode
Dreamland would be adding Souza & Reider

Definitely need another CB or two as if either CCV or Starfelt are injured we are *

Think Reider's out of range. Too hot just now..

Souza would suit us down to a tee and probably slightly more affordable....but maybe that shoos sailed as well..

We 100% need centre half depth. Someone dominant who can challenge and we wouldn't miss one of Carter-Vickers or Starfelt....and maybe a young and uo and coming type on a loan to buy. Both with preferable pace covering and on the turn..

I would imagine the transfer model was explained in depth to him with the promise outwith that if he identifies a player like say John McGinn- within budget and BR's number one target then the club will move heaven and earth to sign him. No squabbling on pennies. Within budget and affordable the player will be signed

We have signed 2 so far with 2 more on the way. All fit the model and if one is as good as Hatate, Maeda and Kyogo we are in business. The team we have at the minute should be more than capable of dealing with the first few fixtures in the league with maybe 2-3 marquee signings later in the window.

Rodgers added: “There is nothing to confirm as yet. We are working very hard on various things to make the group better.

“The best time to improve and develop is when the team is doing well.

“There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to get the team ready for when it matters. And there is still a bit of time to go.”

Rodgers is confident he will get the players he wants to boost his squad before the start of the new season

He added: “It’s the model that’s worked very well.

“You always have to plan forward at Celtic, because there are maybe players who will move on.

“Rather than wait for it to happen, you’ve got players who can be part of the squad but also with really good potential.

“It is also important to have players that are first team ready. The teams is about winning – and for that you need various levels of experience.

“You need young players who are developing and you need the senior ones who are first team ready.

Add it all together and hopefully we’ll have a very good squad for the start of the season.”

With the wide men we've signed and you'd imagine one more is to come in at least, it's hard to believe Forrest and Johnston have a future here.

Also, Haksa probably has to be central to have a future.

An issue people rarely consider on here is the lack of homegrown players within our squad. It’s becoming increasingly concerning.

I’m convinced it was the only reason Forrest was given the length of term that he has in his contract.

Need to get our fingers out. These games in Japan would have been ideal to get players some game time.

Honestly at this stage over and above the Korean lads we will sign 1 top midfielder and make a push for KT that may or may not work and that will be our whack.

Come on Celtic make a * of me and do something to really move us on
