So its not done yet...I'd still take him even if he's not great with the ball.

To be honest, that’s just not really how modern transfers work, especially when there’s a release clause involved.

We may well have been good enough to let Zagreb know we were interested and they’d have pointed us to his release clause. Our next step wouldn’t be negotiating that or submitting an official bid; it would be discussions with his agent to query his interest and get an idea on salary etc. Only once we were close to or even reached an agreement with the agent, would we then submit an actual bid.

Agents have far too much power.

Strange. It should be the reverse. Afterall, we have to give a satisfactory bid to Dinamo. There are reports of varying nature: some say Fenerbahce's second bid was accepted, while some say the opposite. Without the bid being accepted, Livaković is gong nowhere.

It would make sense to ask the agent if Livaković would be interested in the concept of moving to Scotland, but no more than that.

Always does a good job for Celtic when I sign him in Football Manager, glad to see the scouts finally taking a leaf out my book.

Still a chance until it’s all signed and we should be doing everything to make it happen.

I’m not sure we were really interested in him unfortunately. Had we then I’m pretty sure we could have made him a decent offer. I think Rodgers is gonna stick with hart

Glad we’re not in for him. Don’t think he’d suit our style of play at all, and for that kinda cost would he improve us that much? Rather spend £9 mil on a centre half

Suit our style? Hart isn’t great in possession but still done the job. Keeper coming into his prime with top experience and an excellent world cup last year, £9M is a great deal. We 100% need a new keeper, it’s a hard position to fill.

He was literally the best keeper in the world Cup. People are overthinking this too much...he'd have been a * brilliant signing:giggle1:

Bit confused about the sources though. Croatian guy seems convinced nothing is signed.

Now pretty much everyone is reporting Romano's "here we go", but yesterday, there were reports that absolutely nothing was arranged and that Dinamo rejected a bid of €8M +2M add-ons. In the Celtic fanbase, there's many "ITK-s" claiming this or that. Nobody on the Croatian forum has come up with ITK information that would confirm or deny the transfer, although many have doubted the Turkish source Romano was referring to.

Either Dinamo are better at closing leaks, or Romano's had a big blunder and believed yet another Turkish boast.

Fenerbahce are in the Conference League, BTW. Bringing a lot of big, old names. People are disappointed by the choice of club Livaković made, if this transfer happens.

Signing Livakovic would send out a serious statement that we're ready to become a force to be reckoned with in Europe again.

I won't get my hopes up though, smells of agent trying to drum up interest around his player to land a better contract.

It is a bit surprising. Must admit.

Tadic as well...they must be offering mad money again.

Which they tend to have issues paying. There's also Džeko in the mix, and a CB named Rodrigo Becao from Serie A.

From our point of view, I'd like us to have at least asked Livaković about his willingness to come here. Either that, or a proof Joseph was wrong and we never considered Livaković. At least then there wouldn't be a feeling of a missed chance.

We will never know and Joseph is pretty much a copy and paste merchant isn't he? He'll regurgitate 100 rumours, 10 might be right and will try and forge a reputation from the 10 hr got right.

    50k per week at Ferner.

If we matched that it still wouldn't be enough as tax is lower in Turkey.

So we'd probably need to be paying him 65-70k.

That's helped Turkey recruit a lot in previous years I'm sure.

I think our wage structure holds us back tbh

Though I don't think we could go as high as 70k for top earners, the knock on effect would be too much throughout the squad.

But if our upper limit is currently what 35-40? I'd like to see that increased by 10k.
