Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

We really don't want having games postponed as look what happened in the COVID season when we were two games behind the zombies and 6 points behind we never recovered and couldn't catch up on them as every game we played after them we were 9 points behind.
The club should know buying Asian players would bring that scenario and again I don't mind two or three in the squad but not 5 or more .

 

Thinking we won't be signing an established DM now we've brought in a 22yr old DM in Kwon from S. Korea, otherwise what would be the point bringing him in..

New DM, McGregor, Iwata and Kwon, don't see it?

 

Nah, might be something in January if Iwata doesn't cut it and Hyeok hasn't broke into the team, but I think we're done in midfield now, even if we move Turnbull/Soro and McCarthy on.

 

I'm still holding out hope, as for CL football the engine if the team isn't strong enough.. disappointing if that's our midfield business..

 

Hatate, McGregor, O'Riley, Holm, Iwata, Turnbull and Hyeok.

Turnbull might go, but that's still 6 midfielders currently, bringing in a seventh and guaranteeing gametime might be difficult.

I'd like another midfielder, 100%, but I think we're done there. Here's hoping Iwata/Hyeok have the potential to step up

 

Thing is its a gamble we don't need to take, you say go into the market in January if Iwata/Hyeok doesn't work out, could be out of Europe by then..

Only thing gives me hope is Rodgers will have had assurances and may want to strengthen that area with his 'own' signing.

 

If that's our midfield for * champions league it's hiding behind the couch time and where's the money Celtic we have all in the bank are we seriously going to spend it I live in hope .

 

Is McCarthy going? I thought he'd just sit out his contract . Turnbull I could understand wanting out. If him and Turnbull leave our home grown players with any European experience goes down.

I'm also worried bringing in 2 wingers and 2 midfielders means Vata and Summers get ignored. While defence seems to be ignored and we don't seem to really have youth that can step up in that department.

 

Rumour is James has offers in America and a couple in Australia

 

Should get Vata and Summers out on decent loans.

 

See if we don't make any big signings this summer (and by big I mean players in the mould of that Croatian keeper who's now off to Fenerbache) then we never will.

All the excuses in previous years just can't be trotted out this time.

We are incredibly cash rich. We've got more guaranteed big money with CL football. We've no qualifiers to play.

I'm not for spending big for hubris or for vanity reasons. But I would like to see a bit more ambition. We've got to try and take the next step, up to an Ajax level. I fear we just don't have the vision for it. There's still plenty of time to get this right so no need to panic but if we've already done our midfield shopping then I'm sorry but we won't be doing anything in Europe this season either.

 

Aye I'm hoping this is the last "quiet" week of the summer (I use the term quiet losely as Hyun has been linked for weeks and Hyeok was linked in January)

I'm not as optimistic as others that we'll get another RW, CM or even a LB (unless Bernabei/Abada leave) but there is absolutely no reason not to spend a good amount of money on a GK, CB and LW at minimum.

None of the project signings disappoint me, in fact I'm really excited to see Jun and I think the other 3 will play their part this year, but I suspect/hope Hyeok is the last "project" like signing we make.

Time to step up a gear, the links to Livakovic were a good start, but we need to be quicker if we're in for that sort of player.

 

Honestly I think you are going to be heavily disappointed.

 

We need first team ready quality now. Minimum of four.
