    We think more dynamically now.

The fact is that the left wing position is probably going to be weaker this year than last year and that's just the way it is. At the start of any given season, some positions are going to be stronger than at the end of the previous one and some are going to be weaker. Jota was one of our most successful signings and at the end of his cycle so it is highly likely that his replacement will not initially be up to his standards... and in fact, possibly might never be!

Meanwhile, though, some positions are going to be stronger (for example hopefully a new DCM or an upgrade on Hart or Starfelt or Abada maybe). The important thing is that (a) the team as a whole is stronger from year to year and (b) individual positions tend to usually get stronger on average when comparing like with like (i.e. comparing someone at the end of his cycle with the next guy at the end of his).

We have to learn to be OK with this, because we've tried hanging onto players who want to leave or not cycling players like Lustig, Izaguirre Forrest or (arguably) even Broony on because in the short term, the next guy isn't as good and it has got us precisely nowhere.

Apart from CM, everyone is for sale, even if that means their position will be weaker for a year or two as a result.

    I don't know if you're being sarcastic :56:

We need a mixture of style, skills and culture to make the team better though, not just relying on two or three nations.

My biggest concern with signing all these Asians is the Asian Cup that will take half our squad away mid-season.

One of the best defensive midfielders in recent times was Park Ji Sung. He was an absolute workhorse for Man Utd and excellent in Europe. Perhaps their best player.

I don’t think being from Asia matters

Yang Hyun-Jun says he is leaving Gangwon in South Korea with some sadness - even though his European dream has been clinched at Celtic.

Club ceo CEO Kim Byung-ji confirmed a transfer fee of £2.15 million had been agreed with the Premiership champions ahead of the 1-1 draw with FC Seoul in the K-League, where they are in the relegation mire after just two league wins all season. The attacker admits leaving them for Brendan Rodgers' side with the club in a bad place isn't sitting great with him. Hyun-Jun said: "My club has suffered a lot for them to allow my transfer to happen and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them. I'm excited and happy to confirm the transfer at a difficult time, but I also have a heavy heart.

The season is not over here and the team is in a difficult situation and I am very sorry that I transferred without being able to take responsibility until the end. I'm really sorry to everyone at the club. I wanted to leave with a victory for the fans and I'm very sorry that I couldn't. The fans here gave me a lot of support and love. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be this good of a player. If you continue to support me, I will do my best to reciprocate in the future."

The club's chief Kim said: "The transfer fee is 2.5 million Euros. He first heard about the transfer in May and it has given us a lot of trouble. The reality of the transfer and our position gave us a lot of sleepless nights. But I am glad it has been resolved.

I hope that Yang Hyun-jun will have the opportunity to challenge his dreams and grow further. It's for the betterment of Korean football. I am certain he will become an even more brilliant player."

Welcome. I think these guys will help Oh as well, as if you watched his body language last season, he was frustrated at times when his team mates didn't read what he was doing.

Technically, he was an AM/winger, but played as if he were a DM. So, yeah. 3 lungs can beat flair.

Tongue firmly in cheek, my point being just because they’re from where they are doesn’t mean they are lightweight!

Look at Iwata and Oh, they are both built like brick shithouses.

I'm expecting a 6 million plus signing to replace Jota after getting 25 million for him or are we going back to the cheap option again do we ever learn .

Jota was a cheap option when we initially signed him

    Is it aye?

Maybe you think Tilio is his replacement?

Or perhaps you're niave enough to think that after signing TWO right wingers we're going to spring big bucks for another. Ya know, the "big" signing we've all been waiting for.

"Daft" doesn't come into it. Common sense does.

How do you work that out we spent 6 million on him and expecting the club to at least match that or more as a replacement or we are doing * all in Europe.

He was a reserve player who we got on loan. We only spent big bucks when he proved himself

It's weird you bringing Tilio into the conversation, because the exact same logic applies to him, he was linked to us long before Jota left.

You said it yourself, Jun and Tilio are RW's. Jota is a LW. We currently have 1 natural LW at the club, thus Jun and Tilio are clearly not his replacement.

If you want to convince yourself Jun and/or Tilio are Jota's replacements, go right ahead, it doesn't make it any less "daft"

we paid 1.5m for Juranovic. Frimpong even less. Value for money. Hatate / Maeda / Matt O’Reily all less than 2m

It's not just about the amount we pay, it's about identifying the right type of player.

Jota's replacement hasn't been signed yet.

All our wingers can play either flank.. we will definitely sign another, less of a project.

Yes they are ok players and domestic wise should win the league with these type of players but to do anything in Europe we need quality and quality costs money we need starters in the team right now not prospects.

Quite excited to see what he'll bring. I expect him to be more involved than some are suggesting. The fact he can play left or right will help him.

The size of a transfer fee means little. We are looking for promising young players to develop further. That mob throw millions away on injury prone players, to try and out muscle us. For the huns spending £12 million on Flo, we had

    Larsson £650,000
    Thompson £2.75m
    Sutton £6m
    Lambert £2m
    Agathe £27,000

Dembele worked well for us, after finding out we could get him cheap. Tilio, Odin Thiago Holm and the 2 Korean lads haven't kicked a ball for us yet. I'll reserve judgement until I've actually seen them play several games.
