    10000%.

Scepovic, Bangura, Rasmussen, Pukki off the top of my head were all signed for a combined £8-9m if you believe the reported costs.

Aye we wasted the £5m on Ajeti but we had Toney literally in the door and would have had him signed were things different...that would have been an example when it was good to spend a bit more. Another example being famously leaving Andrej Kramaric's agent "out in the rain" whilst we welcome back Scepovic with open arms. A lot of ghe time in the past it was the club making idiotic decisions rather than anything.

Fine margins in transfers. * need to stop acting like it's completely black and white.

“Ah but you seen what happened across the city.”

Mind folk used to say that regularly to defend the board spending buttons. Done my * box in.

As I said there you'd genuinely think the £10m was coming out their pocket.

I think folk are too afraid of what might happen if they were to flop. It's a risk we have to take.

Either spend £13m on someone like Rieder or Vinicius Souza or sign 5 or 6 players in the same position who may be good but might not be anywhere near them in terms of ceiling. It's worth the risk for me.

People are willing to trust the scouting process for the smaller punts so you would think that for the larger fees where we will have done SO much due diligence they'd be willing to trust.

Bayo, Klimala, Ciftci. There’s Jota’s fee covered.

Is anyone even remotely suggesting we shouldn't spend big money on a top player? Or am I missing something here?

If there is one single Celtic fan on earth that's campaigning for us to stick to signing 'punts', please can someone point me to it?

Don't you know signing some young players with potential means that's all our business done and no bigger signings will happen? Some people really just enjoy being raging all the time.

I've seen plenty saying not to spend £13-15m on a player aye. On twitter or just in general.

I think some fans are afraid of the club spending that much on one player for some bizarre reason.

That's true, but I honestly thought we'd all be past the stage of assuming players will be duds just because they don't cost huge money. The 2 (4 if you count the Korean boys) we've signed have already been largely written off, it baffles me how folk can be so ignorant tbh.

I've not seen even one example of that, maybe I'm just missing these posts by pure chance.

Do you think that twitter link posted on the last page in this thread, was trying to suggest we shouldn't spend big money?

All for signing the Korean players - think the winger looks class.

But they’re unlikely to go straight into the team and improve it right way. We desperately need to start signing some real quality that can take us up a level.

Tete and Livakovic would be some start.

Not necessarily no but I do think its a bit selective in getting across the point.

As I've said above we've had many more poor buys and lost many more millions shopping in the £500k-3m bracket than we have when we have gone say £4.5m+ which I consider to be good money for us.

I think it's time we press the button on more established buys. I recognise that not every single player will be "big" money and I wouldn't want that but I can't be arsed with people being selective. We all know there's been a fair few occasions over the years where if we'd spent an extra couple million we'd have come out the other end with a better player.

With the way our recruitment is now set up I trust the club more than ever to get the right player in.

We need quality in the door, that's the long and short of it.

Nobody is calling them duds but how many of those 4 get in the first xi? Are they all going to get game time? We need at least 2 to go straight into the first xi especially after losing Jota. The season starts in 3 weeks and the players should have time to gel.

I get the business model, sign young players and move em on further down the line for a healthy profit, but there are occasions when we need to flex our financial muscle.

Not soley about throwing money at it, has to be the right type of player for us that will suit our style of play.

I agree. If we spent that much on one player folk said to me " aye but others will be jealous of the wage he gets " I'd spin it to say " maybe they think getting a player of this quality to improve me and the entire team is a plus and he deserves the wage based on what he has done before"

The huns got their business done early, i think this has caused added anxiety within our support because we haven't got the numbers in already, important though that we do what is right for us.

Rodgers is confident and that's good enough for me, his reputation is on the line after what happened at his last club.

Poor @Double Dutch, I think people have completed missed the point with the post he's shared :56:

I don't think Everything Celtic was insinuating we should avoid high fee's, it was more so that we shouldn't write off players because we've signed them for a smaller fee. Hatate, O'Riley, Johnston, Taylor were all signed for low fees and are major successes.

It works the other way too of course. Edouard, Kyogo, Starfelt, CCV and Jota were all major successes too.

A while to go in the window but im not sure how impressed iv been with our business so far.

Holm aside, id prefer we went for a slightly pedigree of player and doesnt fill me with confidence that one of our signings has an injury. Feel like we are slipping into old habits a wee bit.

Would like us to bring in a couple of names with some pedigree and potential that.

At least a couple of feelgood signings are needed, give everyone a boost, show our intent.

Nah I totally get that but it's kinda kicked off another argument:giggle1:

I think we all know that cheaper signings can come.goos but as has been shown above, very selective in his examples (everything celtic). As you'd expect ofcourse

As Prof says above I think a lot of us are just desperate for 2-3 syatement signings.
