Where do you think we need to improve?

    I'd say

    GK
    CB
    LB
    CDM
    LW

So that's 5 for me. I'd also say that if Tete signs he goes in straight ahead of Abada so, there's 6 I suppose.

I think the back end of last season has shown our squad isn't anywhere near as strong as has been suggested, personally, anyway.

    They're different positions and styles.

Tete plays almost like Roberts in the way he's constantly wanting to come in on his left peg. We need to replace Jota with a LW.

When Jota was here we all wanted him on the left and a 'Jota-like' winger on the right. Tete is that guy I think, but now we need another 'Jota-like' replacement for Jota lol.

If we get Tete for RW I think Jota's replacement for the left will be Yang. Then you'll have Maeda, Haksa and Yang battling out for that spot. It's a risk but I can't see us spending big on that position now.

I do think Yang may surprise a few people in that position. Looked pretty * skilful when I saw him play. But Jota's numbers were pretty good and his delivery was excellent. Don't know if the Korean lad's end product is as good.

I think that's what will happen too and willing to obviously give him a chance but might need to be re-addressed in January.

He seems to have the similar style to Jota.

The team won the Treble and beat Sevco out the gate everytime it counted. In the CL we didn't get going really and a lot of that was down to Ange let's be honest- we all knew it would be very difficult playing so attacking in the CL. But it did feel nice seeing us having a real go. BR will be different I feel this time- more pragmatic.

We will maybe see a GK, central midfielder and a winger come in- maybe all three will be high enough profile and one would imagine they are priority positions (although I still like Hart word is we are looking for a new no.1). Then it all depends on outgoings and if someone like say Kieran Tierney was available on deadline day for a loan or something.

The problem is, people are just assuming the guys we’ve already bought won’t make an immediate impact in the first team. And that seems to be almost entirely based on the fact that we didn’t pay much for them.

I would really need to see more of those guys in action, before making definitive statements about what we need.

But I’d be happy if we signed a youngish GK and a winger with some proven ability in a decent standard league. I think we needed that even if Jota had stayed.

Originally, I would have certainly said a quality DM. But I’m intrigued by what I see with this kid Holm. And I’ve not seen enough of Iwata yet either.

My issue is more about our tactical approach in Europe. If we get that side of things wrong, it won’t matter a * bit how much $$ we spend - we’ll still be wooden spoon contenders.

So for me, it’s 2 or 3 quality additions. Not half the team or more.

    Fair.

From what I've read about Holm he isn't a CDM though. He's been played there bit out of position..more of a CAM/8 I think.

Let's just see what happens. By all accounts the 4 signings that are done/seem closer were supposedly lined up long before Rodgers arrived.

I think now we might see "his" targets be focused on.

GK, LB, CB, DM, LW and ideally 3rd ST needed..

    Ideally with some established pedigree..

I'm all for projects but we really need to start adding the quality we are all expecting and which is needed to take us to the next level.

This post alone makes 90% chat on this part of the forum just now redundant.

    Not really..

Two duds doesn't mean you never spend 5m+ again... anyway the standard of our scouting/recruitment system has is light years ahead from when we signed Barkas and Ajeti.

Yeah I think that will be plan too.

Essentially Tete is Jotas replacement and Jun is Abada's.

Still have too quality wingers they are just playing opposite sides to the guy they are directly replacing

I think ur right in saying that people made that assumption but yo be fair the manager came out yesterday and essentially said that neither are viewed as signings for the here and now.

Hopefully they will kick on and suprise people but definitely telling that he's said that. Definitely thought Holm would be viewed more as 1 for now.

Not sure how you got that from what I posted, point is the boys we've already brought in could very well be the next Dembele/Hatate/Frimpong etc.

As for spending big, I think it's a necessity. The boy Reider especially is one I want in, but our bread and butter is unearthing gems, so people should not be so dismissive of so called 'punts'.

You could easily put about 20 flops that cost peanuts and then put it against the £9m we spent on Edouard to show it from the other side though.

Yeah it is very selective.it ignores that 4.5m on Kyogo, 6m on CCV and Jota. Then also ignores players like Hendry, Soro, Comper, Klimala, Shved, Bayo, Gutman, Perez, Benyu, Kouassi and I'm sure there is more.

Aye we have spent a fortune if you combine all the players we have signed for £2m and under, and a lot of them have been utter dross.

    Exactly.

I hate that narrative. So we should never go beyond £4m foe a player ever again?

Cmon. We all know we can get bargains but that's the market we are used to operating in anyway. The odds suggest we will.hit success now and again.

Its time we pushed the boat out and took more risk.

You'd think it was people's own money they were spending. The club are flush, we aren't gonna go bust!
