Certainly an exciting signing if it happens. Why has nobody picked him up before now though? Would be interested to see his stats from one of those Twitter graph guys

 

I had a quick look on Reddit there, this post stood out.

Watch him try to play with his feet or clear a cross and you'll understand immediately. He's a world class shot stopper and a penalty specialist but unfortunately very mediocre at skills a top lvl gk needs to succeed.

That was the only Croatian I saw posting though

 

Clearing of crosses has improved IMO, at least when I watched him play for Croatia. Playing with the ball at his feet though- that comment is spot on, whoever it was.

 

About time and actual link to a good player worth getting excited about!

It's not even needing to win a bidding war.
Not many transfers these days are bidding wars.

Just offer what the club want for him.
If they accept 8m from fenerbache, we don't need to offer 9m, just offer the 8 and get to the negotiation table with the lad.

We become instantly a good option for him.
3 years here, see a move south.
Play UCL.
Continue to get in to the international squad.
Working with a squad that wants to go far in Europe over these coming years.

You don't need to rotate keepers. Better to let your best one get lots of game time.

 

Interesting but hope Navas's going to Turkey so we can get Livakovic to sign the dotted line!

I don't usually get excited about GKs but this would be a game-changer in my view.

When I think of some of the best results we've had in recent memory, particularly in Europe, without exception, the GK has been exceptional. I'm thinking of all the great results v Barcelona, Lazio, Man Utd, AC Milan - in those games Boruc and latterly Forster were outstanding.

In fact the last time I can remember a keeper making a world class match winning save in Europe was Forster v Lazio at Parkhead. After Julien scored to make it 2-1 Lazio had a few moments in injury time, one of them was a thundering volley from outside the box -- looked certain to smash the net but big Forster pulled off a worldie.

We need to be getting back to that. Tbh you could argue that Rodgers' inability to find us a top level GK during his first stint probably contributed to us not quite getting some results over the line. While I'm not saying Gordon was necessarily at fault v Man City in the 3-3 game, if we had a higher level keeper he could maybe have pulled off an outstanding save to prevent one of the goals. You really do need a keeper to be doing that if you want to succeed in Europe. Boruc and Forster made those saves. The ones they've no right to save.
