Needing at least 13 out with at least 6 in.

    GK - sweeper style
    CB - preferably x2
LB in a wing-back mould (x2 if he moves Taylor into midfield, as I suspect he might)
    DM
    RW (another left-footer preferably)
    LW (right-footed, to replace Jota)

All of those need to be of first-team ready standard if we’re going to really push on.

Need to see something happening by next weekend and we need two or three physical type players especially the rugby team being assembled at sevco or we could be struggling physically and at set pieces and Rogers did say he needed power in the side so hopefully a few enforcers incoming.

Taylor won't be moved to midfield, who does he replace and in what position? Midfield is where we have the most options, even more so by the end of the window..

Doesn’t need to ‘replace’ anyone. I’d imagine we’ll be buying a DM, and McGregor will be moving back to LCM, where he played under Rodgers previously. Taylor would make a great backup for him in that position. It’s where he mostly played in his youth career, and the considerable improvement under Ange was, as we all know, down to the inverted full-back role, which was essentially a midfield position.
All of this has precedent and isn’t unrealistic.

None of us know that for sure. I’d think one of O’Riley or Hatate could be off by then, but again, who can say?

The one thing that is for certain is that if we go into Europe expecting Taylor to overlap (which is likely going to be the way Rodgers sets up the LB position - again, we can’t be sure, but again it’s based on precedent), we’ll be found out with severe consequences. I’d even say he isn’t good enough at that role for backup at that level.

He’s a natural LCM who missed his calling, for me - all day long.

Just my opinion at the end of the day, but i don’t think we win the league with the current squad.

Current squad outwith jota and mooy who won a treble?

What makes you think their signings are any good? Strikers who between them have a goal ever 100+ minutes.

A captain who can't defend and a goalie who has played 9 games in 3 seasons but been fit for those 3 seasons.

    * me man your normally sound as a pound mate but way off here

People just freaking out because we’ve not made a big signing and they’ve got about four or five new players.

Their signings don’t look great, and as you said they seem to lack a goal scorer despite signing multiple strikers.

We still are better in every single position (by some margin IMO) and still have a better manager. Not to mention the fact we’ve still got the VAST majority of our transfer budget to spend strengthening this team.

I’ll properly judge our odds when all of our business is done.

We'll definitely buy a LB who will share the role with Taylor, not sure what we'll do with Bernabei...

But we'll need to agree to disagree on Taylor as a midfielder.. we won't see that imo..

Fair enough mate. I just think they’ll be an improve side next season with the new additions as well as getting Lawrence back who looked decent before the injury. So far we’re a good bit weaker.

I think our winter break is 3rd to 16th but that comp starts 12th January. I wouldn't be surprised if we brought in a loan in January to cover us.

Celtic linked Fabian Rieder has opened up on his future away from Young Boys amid interest from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

The Swiss international midfielder has reportedly attracted admiring glances from Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Champions Leaguenext term - with the Scottish Premiershipchampions boasting a massive transfer kitty to back the manager in his pursuit of European glory. However, the 21-year-old is in demand this summer - with the Bern outfit starting the bidding at £13million according to Swiss outlet Blick .

The report claims that Bundesliga side Gladbach have made the first move this summer but have had an initial offer of £8.5million rejected for the rising star. In an interview, Rieder has dropped a strong hint that he has set his sights on a move to Germany this summer while he would also consider the English Premiership - which could put Celtic on the back foot if they join the signing race.

He told Blick : "I've been following the Bundesliga since I was a child, but I'm also open to other leagues. The Premier League for example. But if I could choose, it would be the Bundesliga."

In terms of outgoings at Celtic Park, Albian Ajeti has seen one route completely close. The striker had spent last season on loan at Sturm Graz with the Austrian side initially claiming they had been priced out of making the temporary deal permanent.

With the Swiss international unlikely to get a chance under Rodgers, the Hoops could have returned to the negotiating table in a bid to flop the flop frontman. However, Kleine Zeitung report that any return for the 26-year-old has been ruled out by Sturm following the signing of Szymon Wlodarczyk.

Ismaila Soro also has seen any potential Celtic Park exit route collapse after a successful loan spell at FC Arouca. The midfielder helped the side claim European football with a fifth place finish in the Primeira Liga.

But Portuguese outlet JN claim a return is now off the table following his return to Celtic. Former Parkhead flop Eboue Kouassi has been snapped up from Genk to replace Soro.

    Worryingly quiet.

They will be a different - and better - prospect next season.

mooy and jota were 2 crucial performers last season.

While I applaud new contracts it doesn’t convince me.

new signings need time to bed in. I’m hoping the transfer silence means 2-3 on the down low that we will be delighted with. Soon.

    I tend to agree.

there is no way Rodgers has come even with existing squad not being promised a wedge.

mooy and jota wages, let alone transfer fee and I hope - stress “hope” - we are working behind the scenes for 2-3 signings that will be top level.

There is still dreck to get rid of which will help further.

    see McCarthy ajeti. Gtf.

we would be better off paying half of their wages for a year to get them away. Neither seemed sensible at the time, cut losses and move on. Sadly, in McCarthy instance, I just see someone sitting on 750k/year who is pish and will walk away at end of contract 3m up.

    Dreadful.

however we move on. Swiftly, I hope.

I do hope so ma man.

    I’m expecting 2 big signings. Not 3m guys, 8m x 2 and another 4-6m

I’ll be very surprised if that doesn’t happen.

Rodgers surely hasn’t been given a 3yr deal to manage a depleted squad.
