Reminds me a bit of big Sammy, great on his day, howling when off it. Always turns in a positive performance defensively though.

Polarising player which is evident in the reaction to this news. I think he's definitely a threat when he plays even purely down to his pace at times. Agree that his quality in the ball needs to improve but he looked like a forward playing as a winger to me last season, unnatural out wide. Looked dangerous through the middle for Japan at the WC.

Only way a can see this being positive is if Rodger’s thinks he will be an asset in getting up the park in europe

Don't get me wrong I recognise his attributes but if we are serious about progression in Europe I think we need better, certainly from a starting XI position. Perfectly fine having him in as a squad player but we really should be striving to improve on him.

I actually think I'd prefer him as a striker.

I agree with most posts in here, I think he's an excellent player but does lack a bit of technique and end product but also as mentioned I do believe he receives a lot of unjust criticism.

Think Rodgers may play him closer to the middle on the left.

On yersel big Daizen ya rapid freak of nature.

I'm really liking the "Ange signings" being the first to commit to the club.

Japanese have a great loyalty to whatever collective they are a part of. Managers change, but the collective remains. I'm happy Rodgers recognized Maeda's good points.

    I really don’t rate him.

Just think he lacks the basic technical ability to play at a club with our aspirations.

That said, if Rodgers thinks he can improve him and get use out of him, then who am I to argue?

Happy enough with him signing the new deal but I hope the plan isn’t for him to be our first choice left winger.

Happy enough tbh, he does work his * off and available as back up to Kyogo upfront along with Oh. I think he is a great option to bring on later in the game when teams are tired and he can terrorise them with his pace. Next up Reo and then hopefully Abada and Orielly.

Do you just pretend like his purple patch when he came back from the world cup with Japan didnt happen?

Think he's pretty underated by a lot of our fans. His work rate is absolutely priceless, and he's chipped in with a number of important goals. I thought his control was sometimes a bit lacking and he could be quite erratic, but it improved a lot. Looking forward to seeing him after Brendan Rodgers input.
