But the SPFL level is ‘*’, it’s the exact same logic.

To be fair, though, "below the standard of the K/J leagues" and "largely *" aren't really the same thing. I get that you were just talking loosely; but if we're discussing potential transfers, we have to hope that the club are being more analytical than this kind of broad, impressionistic way of judging targets.

I would think it is obvious that the club are being more analytical than my random forum posts.. :giggle1:

Ultimately prepared to trust Mark Lawwell on this, but even those who watch Australian football intensively aren't exactly glowing on Tilio..

Must admit I've never heard of him before.

Looks like the first 3 players to join the club since his return would’ve signed under whoever took over or if Ange stayed. His recruitment has been poor according to many on here and in the media etc. Are these players his recruits?

It's good we've identified players regardless of manager, this is the correct way to do things.. but he's already said he would have ratify..

He said this.. “Over the course of our discussions I’ve seen the market we’re in and how well the recruitment has gone.

“Mark Lawwell has this pipeline of players that are available and I think it’s really impressive what he’s done since coming in and the markets he’s been able to tap into.

“That will continue. That’s where the club is at. Listen, when you’ve got top players at the club they are always going to attract attention

He added: “You have knowledge of certain markets or knowledge that you might be able to get a player that’s just become available.

“I know how I want the team to play. Celtic as a club it’s about offensive, aggressive, attacking football.

“What I am coming into is a team that’s playing that way. We’ll just look at adapt that and make changes.

“In terms of recruitment I am the one that knows how I want the team to play and I have to be involved in those discussions and I will be
    .

“Some of those markets haven’t been as readily available to some clubs, that’s something Mark has brought with him in his roles.

“I’m thinking of the Japanese market, the Korean market, Australia and out into Asia.

“These were players that were untapped and you’re now seeing other clubs trying to tap into that.”

Celtic need to be looking for another manager.
Celtic moved on since last time he was here. I just hope he doesn’t * this season up.

He's probably kicking himself for taking the Celtic job now. :56:

Be asking Jota to get Nuno sacked so he can get £10M per year tax free as well.

Rodgers seemed quite confident in his presser, i assume from that he will be given a healthy transfer budget, hoping we see some activity this week, time is of the essence.

He should be confident to be fair. He has the most prestigious CV of any manager in the country by miles. The squad we have and will have by the end of the window should be more than good enough to win the majority of the domestic matches, and Rodgers has the experience and confidence to win the tougher games and derbies.

The CL is obviously a much tougher task but as usual I'm sure we'll give it our best.

I don't even expect to do much in the champions league but a we home win would be wonderful. I miss that feeling tbh. Bring that back and he's worth it.

Yeah this is all true, but we still need to give him the tools to get the job done, his previous stint as Celtic manager was very successful but nothing can be taken for granted.

BRENDAN RODGERS announced his return to Celtic with four words - "Let's get to work!".

And today is the day as our exclusive pictures show.

Celtic report back for duty after last season's treble triumph with a new lookand a new boss at the helm.

Rodgers swept back into Lennoxtown this morning ready to kick off his pre-season schedule with his new squad.

And he was all smiles as he got back to work - greeted by one delighted fan who ensured the boss was given a warm welcome back to the training ground.

Hoops diehard Patsy Cullen, 76, was such a fan of Rodgers on his previous spell she followed him to LEICESTER to wish him well.

And the superfan left her house in Whitburn at 3.30am this morning to set up the welcome party complete with balloons and bunting on the road to the training base.

It’s a route Rodgers knows well of course, courtesy of two and a half years with the club between 2016 and 2019, but the players he will meet for the first time this morning are almost all new.

Only three - James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Scott Bain, remain from his first spell.

But Rodgers insists his Celtic fandom developed as a youngster meant he has kept a close eye on his former club while he was away at Leicester - and is ready for the challenge ahead.
