No idea why this is so unbelievable to people.

Quite sad how many find it surprising or that you're bullshitting.

I don't think people are saying others are liars but I do think it's easy to say I wouldn't do this when you aren't in this situation and also never will be.

Not bothered...As long as we get the money.

Rodgers did say if no one wants to be here...then see ya.

Get in the money and invest it in the next Jota.

People just have to realise now that they can't get attached to any player at all in the modern game...greed will rise to the surface from any so called footballer nowadays.

I think a lot of these guys look back in their career and find the most enjoyable passionate point was when they played for us. Sadly it seems to take them leaving to notice that.

Jota should be warned of this fact before he signs his soul off to the Devil in * itself. His career is at a crossroads.

That's quite true; but it applies equally well in the other direction to anyone saying that of course they would take it. It's also easy to say you would take the money when you aren't and never will be in the the situation of being talented enough to have a chance, even just a chance, of achieving some big things in your career if you make the right choices for your development.

That's before we even get to folk who are somehow quite certain that everyone else would take the money.

Majority of footballers will follow the money that's just how the game is now.

And if any club wants to come along and potentially bid £25mill+ for one of our players... we are selling.

I'm not going to get mad at a player for leaving Celtic because 1. They as an individual are being offered a financial deal that they will likely never see in their career 2. Celtic are being offered a fee that we otherwise struggle to refuse.

Jota and the likes are quality players for sure... but if we can't scour the world game, with the money we have available to us... as well as, any proceeds we get from these types of sales... well then, the game is dead, there should be no excuse for us not being able to replace players with the spending power we now have and with the likes of Lawwell Jnr in positions where his network should be finding a whole range of different attainable talent globally

It's like anything, I mind being a bairn and all yer pals would be like would you eat that for a million quid, I'd always say no. As an * I learned the easy way when a Aussie bouncer in Edinburgh said to me when I was leaving the club, bet you wouldn't lick the floor (it was * minging) for £100, I shook his hand said bet you, went down took a massive lick of it, took the * £100 got outside spewed instantly. But in my head I went out with £80 came home with £100 all for spewing. People say they won't do this won't do that, until you see the colour of money you'll think that, as soon as its a reality MOST! People will do crazy * for coin, that's the reality of life.

I don't think people are bullshitting when they say that, I think they're just mistaken about how they would actually react to a real offer of lifechanging money.

In reality, most people would make a deal with their conscience. You'd end up giving a couple mil to Amnesty International or something, y'know, take their money and use it for good. If people can assuage their conscience enough to repeatedly buy footie shirts made by child slaves, they can find a way to take £10m in oil money.

Too much pot kettle black going on in this thread.

Surprised there were so many well travelled experts here on Saudi culture and Saudi politics.... and didn't realize there were that many owners of high horses as well.

It don't even have to be Saudi, if someone right now tells me I can do my exact job as I do it now but I will go from £26k and taxed...to £260k and pay little, to possibly zero tax?

    I'm gone.
