I do get that. I agree with you. I just don’t think “* him” is the response.

I'm genuinely sorry that I am being so contrary in this thread, it's honestly not on purpose; but why would you have zero respect for him because of this? To me it seems daft, but it's his life. He's not the first young man to be seduced by this kind of money. I mean, if that's what he thinks he wants, let's hope we're wrong and it makes him happy.

We're in the position of power on this.

25m isn't chump change, but we should be aiming for 30m.

He contracted, highly rated, and they obviously desperately want him. Good agent he has tbh.

We won't get 30. But .. enter pistol Pete, we could get 25, with them covering the sell on.

    Not bad.

I heard that MBS changed a lot of that to be fair. You can't be a journalist who criticises the regime and expect not to be horrifically murdered in their embassy and you can't be a guest worker and expect to live and work in humane conditions, but I saw somewhere that you can wear a bikini on the beach now.

£36m would be mental. But it’s more along the lines of the inflated fees Saudi are willing to pay.

£20-£25m would be the minimum for me if it was the Prem or La Liga.

Love * trying to take the moral
high ground giving him * about taking money to go there.

If you try and make out that you wouldn’t take nearly £200k a week tax free for 4/5 years you are telling porky pies.

I get we are * off cause he is leaving but he is getting an offer that he simply can’t refuse.

I really wish you would stop calling me (and others like me) a liar in this thread. I'm not a liar.

You need to * grow up, honestly this high and mighty * is just lies.

To say you wouldn’t take the money is just pure and utter *. Simple as that.

No one is turning that down.

If you don’t like it, don’t comment or just block me pal.

If I was making say 15k a week playing football in a decent city, adored by fans, Rodgers coming in to manage me, CL football coming off a treble…

I can honestly say I wouldn’t go to Saudi. I’m already making an unfathomable amount of money to the average person and I’m probably getting a move to a bigger league in a year to make maybe 40-50k a week.

The life and football over there just doesn’t appeal to me. Nothing moral about it.

If they are giving him 10 mill a year and everything is agreed and they really want him, we should be fleecing them.. but I reckon the board see this as a new market to sell so might want to establish a good relationship..

    playing devils advocate here.

There is no guarantee that he will get a move in a years time for 40/50k he might get a serious injury which changes what happens in his career and it free falls.

People could say the exact same thing about the life and football here in Scotland but if they got paid enough they wouldn’t care.

You can’t blame him or give him * when he is being offered that deal. Not saying you have giving him * but some of the stuff he is getting is silly.

Actually, you're quite wrong. I genuinely wouldn't take this move in Jota's case because I would want a move to an elite league like England, Spain or Germany where I could give myself the best opportunity to become an elite player. This is the truth and I'm not a liar. I wouldn't just take the money. To prioritise short-term financial gain for the chance to really achieve something special seems crazy to me for someone already wealthy. However, if that's what he wants, I respect his decision.

Regarding the moral issue, I don't know whether I would take the money or not, maybe I would; but I know people who wouldn't and if some people on here say they wouldn't, I accept that.

Quite where you get your sense of certainty about what other people would do is beyond me.

Aye it wouldn't appeal to me either mate. But he'd be making way more in a month than he would make in a year here, especially with it being tax free. I honestly can't see any player turning that down tbh.
