Yeah but I'd say our board are loving this, new league that will rival and outbid the English. They will want to establish a good relationship maybe with an eye on future business.

They better not be forcing players out, though. I'm starting to think that might be happening with Jota.

We are not forcing anyone out. The fact the wages have been agreed before a fee has been agreed shows that Jota and his agent are pushing for the move.

Everything I've read until now has been personal terms agreed just the clubs to agree a fee.

That doesn't sound like he's being forced out.

It's also a strange way to do business. That was called 'tapping up' in my day.

we have no live report from the club or the player on the status of negotiations. It's all third party rumors. We found out that P. Lawwell really wanted Tierney to leave, a few months after he did. Jota is comparable in significance. But Arsenal are at least a club with reputation.

Money talks pure and simple, ambition went out of the window a long time ago
The only good thing is those arrogant English twats will no longer attract the best players in the world as the Arabs are throwing stupid money at football now.

Agreed on the last sentence, but I cannot fathom why would Jota not ask his agent: "Get me a move to Tottenham or Brighton instead of a melanoma factory with an 8th century moral code."

You can't sell a player against their will, it's up to them to sign a deal or not, forcing players out is a complete myth in the modern game, if it was possible there would be no deadwood on the books.

No chance he's been forced our ha forced out for 10 Mill a year before clubs have agreed a price.. not a chance.

Seems to be how things work nowadays. As you said back in the day it was tapping up, seen it with Ange too, a forgotten phrase now

That's literally what happens during every single transfer.

Everyone at the club thought the £25m for Tierney was a good fee. Tierney wanted to go, for himself and the club. He certainly had discussions with Arsenal before we agreed a fee, as he pointed out in other interviews. He was never going to kick up a fuss if he didn't get the move but his move was financing a rebuild. It worked out for both player and club.

Jota has literally agreed terms. It's not coming from either club because they won't do that but the best, most reputable sources out there are all saying the salary has been agreed.

If you choose to ignore that, no problem but there is literally no point in you discussing transfers with anyone.

When has the club ever provided a live report on a transfer unless it's done

£20-25m doesn't sound a high fee when they are willing to pay him £10m a year salary.

Never, but there has also never been a sports journo who was infallibly correct. Everything changes. First, the fee was said to be £25m, then just 20m. Now we have a 36. Circumstances of the move look odd.

10M a year salary at his age, cannot say no to that.

    Good luck to him.
Rinse them for a couple of years an move back to a european league.

I'd shove my granny off a bus for that

There's no journo who's infallibly correct.. but there's certain figures in the press who the club leak info to.

    McGowan being one of them.
