To go to Saudi Arabia and earn their blood money? No, I wouldn't. And I judge anyone who does.

Good luck to him, played his part here and deserves to go wherever he wants. All these Saudi blood money , overrated comments are just absolutely bitter and if shoe was on other foot guarantee ALL of you would take a 10x on your wages. I'm sure your morals would take a side step if someone pushed a briefcase of cash in front of you

He isn't poor now. And regarding the injury risk- he could suffer a heatstroke in Saudi Arabia and become like me- a disabled person. But I'm not raging either. We fans can't stop him. But I will say that the decision makes little sense for a promising footballer.

Aye totally. We'll be trying to squeeze them for everything we can get. Problem is, Jotas sgreed terms so we're going to have to accept some offer or we're left with an unhappy player.

That's the thing though, don't know what's in his mind. maybe he wants an early exit from football and has another passion outside the game. And on the way he banks Infinite cash and plays with the players he has perhaps idolized.

If my morals are speaking up against the Saudi royal family, who execute LGBT folk, journalists who try to expose the regime and so much more I'll steadfast hold to my morals.

He isn't poor but he is going from £28k to £192k a week. Its still a significant change in what he can do for the rest of his life.

I know £28k a week is.more than what many in the UK earn in a year but still.

    It's a lot lower than £192k.

People saying they would turn down nearly a million a month nearly tax free are kidding themselves on 100%.

Everything we wear, eat etc. If you trace back comes from some * being exploited. If you had morals to turn down that money should be walking about naked and starving to death

Mate, see if he was going to an English championship team for an extra 10 grand a week, I'd completely agree with you. But 10 mil a year is a game changer regardless of his footballing ambition.

I'd take the chance. His unhappiness would resolve after the CL groups get drawn. He'd knuckle down and force his way into the Portugal squad, attract bids next summer, and get a great deal.

Would you like me to remind you of the atrocities and corruption that happened on these isles and are still happening...or perhaps in the US or perhaps everywhere else in the world? That includes this little backwater as well.

Not saying I disagree with any of that but Jota rejecting a contract from a football club on that basis isn't going to make a difference to anything currently happening there. It's well outwith his or our control. Sadly.

Every major nation in the world has committed atrocities at some stage and its a * horrible world. I live on an island that's done some of the worst in history.

But sadly that amount of money can make a lot of things become secondary.

I went over there and worked for a year. Company asked me to but I did it for the money. They offered me a ridiculous package after I left one of their plants in Europe.

No one can say they wouldn't do it for the money. I wasn't getting £10m a year but I got a package that has pretty much set me up for the rest of my life and I was actually doing some good work over there while I was at it.

I'll never apologise for it either. That money has helped me create something far bigger back home and I give my wife and kids an amazing life. Did I want to go? I probably didn't but I was going to be out of work for a few weeks and I had a wedding and a mortgage to pay for. I really liked it out there as well.

I still have connections over there and from what I'm led to believe, they're trying to move on as a country. That doesn't mean everything they have done previously gets ignored and their "blood money" means more. It just means they are trying to be more progressive. Time will tell if that actually comes to fruition but they're not signing young players without the realistic possibility of changing up they way their society is run.

The Saudi climate is a game changer, too. A potentially lethal game changer. The Saudi society and customs- the repressive state are a game changer. And no, rich footballers can't completely insulate themselves from all these dangers. Even when they do, they are left without true freedom, and must watch their step, and their speech, their social media posts etc.

But I guess Jota hasn't got the patience to wait for a better path.

If the fee is minimum 20million then I hope Celtic are looking to reinvest 15m of it back into the squad ON TOP of the budget we already have

Fee hasn't been agreed yet and because they've agreed personal terms already we are in a strong bargaining position. I hope it ends up £30m+.

I'm pretty gutted he's leaving but I think I'm more gutted about the fee we are potentially receiving. I always thought Jota and CCV should be club record sales. Has to be £25m plus for me.
