Sell the player to them for as much as we can get out of them then entice exciting new players on the dream it could be them getting big money moves next. It's the only thing you can do.

That is totally understandable; but that's not what's happening when you go from £10k a week to 190k. Totally different situations. It's the difference between needs and wants.

Exactly, business as usual, don't think anything really changes for clubs at our level if SA teams start throwing money around, the top leagues were already lording it over us like this anyway, it's those leagues that are going to have their knickers in a twist that someone richer than them is on the scene now.

Inter blocked Brozović 's move to Saudi Arabia because the club don't want to pay the previously agreed transfer fee. * knows if we'll get what we demand for Jota.

Couple of years working there sorts you and your entire family out for life. Meaning your children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, cousins, nieces nephews. Its a speculative move as well, they’re signing a lot of big players and with enough eyes on the league you could still have him playing with the national side.

Do you honestly think that his family isn't already sorted for life with him on £10k a week? Christ, he could go to the EPL where average players like Christie are getting £30k a year and have his family set for life multiple times over.

If the Saudis pull this off, it will take a couple of years at least. That's a big chunk of a player's career.

Good to know about the EFL as I have a TEFL but I've never used it. I'm considering getting a CELTA as mine is useless lol. Try the JET programme matey - teach in Japan for £2k a month and subsidised flat. Recruitment opens August / September until December. You can stay for up to 5 years in Japan on a decent wage. It's very hard to get on though. I was rejected first time (I went via the Irish embassy, which is easier than the UK..but I do know where I effed up) after that I just went to Japan for 6 months to hang out with my Japanese girly at the time. South Korea also has a JET programme equivalent, which looks good.

Apart from JET, teaching English in Japan is dead, which is why I've not done it. I'd love to do the JET but I'm too old now sadly.

Just doing some basic maths regarding the 10k a week.

so it’s roughly £520,000 a year before any tax.

Now after the 40/45 percent he pays in tax leaves 208,000 a year roughly.

do that over 5 years which will come out at over a million, again roughly.

take into account his lifestyle, bills etc that’s not enough to sustain his current lifestyle never mind families etc over 40/50 years without working again.

Even if he has a very minimal lifestyle which he won’t it’s not going to cover him and his family multiple times over.

Now the offers that’s being reported if true is £192k a week tax free

Which works out just under 10 million a season, let’s say he gets a 4/5 year deal it’s 40/50 million, now that’s the type of money that’s going to cover him and his family multiple times over.

His entire family isn't sorted for £10k a week bro. That's £2.5m on a 5 year deal. He will also be taxed half that. £1.25m. The guy is literally going to be making 10 times that. His house alone will probably be a few hundred thousand. He will live his life.

£10m a year for 3 years and he's got £30m in his bank account. Zero Tax. Come back to Europe and play for someone else for 5 or 6 years, with £30m sitting in your bank account. We are talking massive differences in wealth.

Of course, his family won't be living on the breadline while he's making £2.5m every 5 years but there is a massive difference between £1.25m in your hand after 5 years and £30m in your hand after 3 years.

I was always gonna be gutted when he left us(I love the guy to bits, one of my favourite Celts ever) but to lose him to Saudi Arabia and for what is for a player of his ability in this footballing financial climate a relatively low fee is especially sickening. Players with his skill and talent rarely come into Scottish football these days and he is about to hit his prime. He'll be a massive loss for us and I only hope we have someone special lined-up to replace him.

Silly mistake career wise, but the bank account well......I'm afraid if anyone offered me 10 million a year tax free, at 24 I'd be off too. Money talks and that a * lot of money, rich or poor.

Sadly if he goes there he will dwindle away. The Saudi league is * terrible. Aye they're plowing money into it but it will take seasons to take shape. Also as a player playing in countries rich with competition, be it league or cup surely means more than a soulless mecanary league? And then there is the fans granted Celtic fans will be up there with the best you can get in football, if he gets a 10th of that feeling in Saudi he will be lucky.

    But! TEN * MILLION!

    My mates over there now.

Lovely girl. Really sweet. Was told if a male talks to her unaccompanied, to walk away without uttering a word, as she could be accused of indecency against a man, ie. ",Attempting to solicit or "tempt" him. And his word is all that matters.

Backwards * hole with a slave labor economy, just like Qatar et al

You'd have to be paying me Jota money to live there.

I see what happened here. You guys said that the money will allow him to set his family up for life; but apparently what you actually meant was that the money will allow every member of his family to be rich for life without ever working.

Depends how big your family is I suppose, or what you’d consider as set up.

I think there’s so many reasons to why taking the money makes sense, and the ones on the other side are more niche/require jota to conform to specific ideas they have about him. I’ve seen people say he seems like the type of guy who wouldn’t move to Saudi Arabia, and that he should value trophies, or competition, or making a name for himself ahead of earning a lot more money. Not one of us know what Jota’s priorities in life are, they might lie a million miles away from football.

Same thing for me. And him never to work again.

Just to add they way you posted it seems like it sorted him and his family for multiple times over, for me that means not working etc
