Great morning for Australia. Skittled the poms 6/40 or something.

Long way still to go. Australia need to bat and bat and bat. Lots of time left in this match and will want to give the bowlers as much time as possible to put their feet up, esp as they won't have Lyon to call upon when the time comes in the 4th Inning of the match.

How much of a lead you think they will want? 450ish?

If you’re playing England now, before the off you know their game plan. If things don’t come off for them you know they just won’t change that plan. This Aussie side are just too good to be so naive in that approach.

Considering only like 3-4 times in the entire history of test cricket have scored over 400 in the 4th Inning to win... Actually there have been bigger 4th Innings totals have been had, but the record score to successfully win in a 4th Inning chase is 418.

That said, England did chase down some really big (as in 370+ I think it was) in the last year against NZ and think(?) India or so...

Edit - Eng successfully chased 378 to beat India last year, as well as successfylly chased down scores of 296, 299 & 277 to beat NZ in the 3 tests they played last season. Thats one of the things about this England 'Bazball' - they've successfully chased big scores.

But it's not just the total, it's also the time still left, as technically speaking we have not even reached the halfway point of the game yet (allowable timewise speaking).

Good day there for Australia. First to roll the rest of the Poms' 1st inning in the morning, taking 6/40 odd. then batted with discipline in dark, overcast bowler friendly conditions to close 221 in front with 8 wickets still in hand and 2 days to play.

Games over, start the autopsy. Too old and predictable…. There I’ve said it.

Scotland wins by 7 wickets! Scotland still in contention to qualify!

West Indies are out. They really are in some state at the moment, and are due to co-host the next T20 WC with the USA is the silver lining as they won't have to go through qualifying for the that tournament at least, but even still...

This is reminding me of watching the West Indies in the 70s growing up.

70s bit early for me, but definitely remember the 80's & 90's of Marshall, Garner, Patterson, Walsh, Ambrose, Bishop et al...
