Can't believe the population. Looked on google earth to see what it was like over there ... they must stay about 100,000 to a house.

Keeping players that would rather be elsewhere is a very bad idea. It backfired on us badly a couple of seasons ago when sevco won the league.

Can't downplay this one. Feels like a big loss. The way I see it even if we banked £30M profit (which we won't) and even if we were allowed to reinvest 100% of that profit he is going to be hard to replace. I think as a club we probably could afford to spend £20M on one player but the wages associated to a player worth £20M would take it beyond our reach, that's the issue for us. Really didn't see Jota leaving this season. Thought we had another year, gutted if this true

Nah covid * the moral also not allowing the new players to bond * it more. Then he tried it in dubai and got even more abuse and 18 players quarantined for nothing. Then everyone just chucked it.

However where jota is concerned, yes he'd rightfully be * off loosing out on more money than the top EPL players earn. So I'm still * raging but I understand.

Clubs all over the shop clamouring to have Saudi clubs overbid for their diddies.

Meanwhile we ship off one of our best players at a cut price.

No surprise, as it’s the same idiots in the boardroom.

Don’t agree. The likes of Edouard, Ntcham etc did not want to be here. In fact Edouard was a * disgrace.

I'll be disappointed for someone like that to leave, at that age, predominantly only for money.

But as long as they're not sticking us in the * offering him £200k pw which will put pressure us to accept some * wee offer. It really needs to be around £30m.

As said it'll be super difficult to replace him as we can't afford the wages to accompany a big fee.

So many things went against us that season it's unheard of. Games cancelled, 18 first teamers unable to play because 1 player got a cold, warnings from first ministers they'll shut us down, forced tests on players every few days. It took all that * to finally derail us. No suprise we bounced right back when things went normal.

Gutted about this, out of everyone he's the one I hoped wouldn't go. Don't blame him for that salary though. Hopefully the fee is £25M+ and we re-invest wisely.

Yet we used to be able to afford it for larrson when we are now making more money. I don't believe it personally. We blow our budget on a collection of projects in the hope we can make a profit. If we don't pay more then we won't get any better than we are now.

It may be difficult to improve on Jota as one unit but this could easily provide money to improving the wing as a whole than we would have without the sale. Be able to offer better contracts to existing players to keep them here etc.
All players leave at some point, it's about replacing them and Celtic need to be on this immediately.

I get the concerns about replacing key players like Jota, but it should be possible without spending fees like £20 million. In fact it has to be possible if this model is going to be sustainable. Hopefully our scouting is now on point.

Look what Ange did in just one season. Signed Jota, Kyogo, Hatate, CCV, JJ, GG, O'Riley, Abada, Maeda and Starfelt, all for reasonable money. That's not one or two successes, it's bucket loads of them, all worth more now than what we paid for them, some considerably more. This shows that it can be done.

Aye but Larsson didn't come in at a huge fee or wages, and giving him bigger wages was due to him being quite simply incredible with us.

Into the bargain FPP comes into player, as already said we can't spend something like £20m and then pay in excess of £50k or even more, our income wouldn't cover this type of expenditure, more to do with our tv money and even sponsorships, we're restricted.

Surely if we've got enough saved in the bank to cover it and its ring-fenced for the full contract then I can't see how we cannot do it.

Not sure if I'd say with £30m to spend we couldn't replace him. Not like for like maybe but considering where his career was 2 years ago before he came to us, these kinda players are out there.

We struck gold getting him but it's not beyond the realms of possibility we find another.

No mention of 30 per cent when he was on loan to us it was stated he would cost in region of 5 million ended up being 6.5 million was also stated benfica were unhappy because the loan turned out better than expected and wanted to turn the players head to stay because they felt they had ballsed up on the fee and could have got more dunno about other people but that doesn’t sound like 30 per cent sell on does it I think if they got 6.5 million with a 30 per cent sell on the deal would have went through a lot sooner than it did ……. Went a whole season no mention of 30 per cent until ange moved on and murmurs of a big move surfaced then boom Scottish oh their must be a 30 per cent sell on it’s not as much as Celtic expect …….lot of desperate * by the journos
