He's already achieved everything here that is currently feasible.

We know of no other club that are interested.

You're coming at it at a non-footballing angle.

Have you not learnt that football is money driven now? There are no Larssons anymore.

Any of our players would jump at moving to the EPL and outwith a few, most clubs are absolute diddies that are going to amount to * all. Eddy to Crystal Palace ffs. Rodgers to Leicester.

Aspirations of players are bank balances, whether that's stroking their ego or making them kings or both.

Any player offered £200k a week in our team is leaving.

That embrace at the end of the Scottish cup final he had with ange now seems like it was a good luck with our new clubs..not just a goodbye

He'll have that * of an agent in his ear pushing him to go.

Absolutely no doubt he's getting his pockets lined by Saudis to recommend players to them. Guys like him don't give a * for players development or ambition. He's only interested in how big a cut he's getting

That depends on your goals. Domestically, sure. However, if the Huns can reach a EL final then I don't think it's unrealistic for us.

If Ryan Christie and Stuart Armstrong can get EPL gigs, Jota certainly can.

I'm not saying that there are. I'm saying that not every player would take this move. Take Reo for example, judging by what his agent said, he's not interested in SA; bet he'll be interested if a decent EPL team comes in for him though.

But the EPL offers more than just money. It is a genuinely great environment to develop yourself in some of the best facilities in the world against some of the best players in the world and often (though not always) under some of the best coaches in the world and if you do well enough at a mid-table team, you can make it to your Liverpools and Arsenals.

That's one aspiration for all players and the primary aspiration for some; but it's not the primary aspiration for all of them.

Think you're reading too much into it. I doubt Jota thought he'd be moving to Saudi 4 weeks ago

Feel like both the club and Jota both thought there'd be a least one more season, but that Saudi offer is insane, and Jota would be insane to turn it down.

Going to hurt losing him, even if we get a record fee. Said earlier than I'm not panicking over incomings just yet as we're not even out of June, but I'd hope to see some strong rumours within the next week at least.

When Ange hinted that some players may be moving on this summer, I got the impression he wasn't referring to the McCarthy's and Scales' of the squad. Something tells me Jota may not be the only big name on the table.

Would hope for at least £25 million considering the reported sell-on fee, however if that is the amount, I don't think it's terrible business. This model being successful is off course predicated on us getting his replacement signing right though.

Maybe not, but may have been aware from his agent that there would be offers on the table for him this summer.

We don’t yet know how attractive the Saudi league is to European big dogs. They might struggle with negotiations and avoid the fees and contracts.

Personally think he’s making a huge mistake.

Anyway, I can't remember how this all started.

    Jota is leaving.

I want the most money for him.

Personally I would like more for Jota but I can only believe that whatever we get will be the max we could achieve from the Saudis. I'm sure the the people running our club are experienced enough to get the max that we can manage. A case of if the player wants to go then we get what we can for him

Was named in 40 man preliminary squad for World Cup last year. Martinez is now Portugal manager and he's 1 of the very few who don't turn their nose up at Scottish football. Regularly picked Boyata for Belgium when others probably wouldn't.
Couple of good showing in champions league added to fact there was strong chance Rodgers could have taken him up a level and making a Portugal squad was a realistic shout this season.
He'll likely never play for Portugal while he's out there * about with has beens and nobodies

$10 million tax free per year though

We need to remember these guys are just doing a job, with a very short career span. We are supporters and if we played for our team we would find it difficult to leave, but these guys would take milliseconds to ponder then make a decision.

If he plays out there for 4 years he can then go home to Portugal at 28 and play at the highest level with the safety net of having secured the financial future of generations of his family.

I would be on the first magic carpet out of here if I was offered that.

Fed up with this pish. He's on somewhere between 10-15k a week. He could conceivably stay at celtic for 10 years and retire a multi millionaire, setting his family uo for generations.

    It's greed nothing more

At least when the * off to England for 3 or 4 times their wages you can argue there's a level of ambition to going to a bigger league

I agree 100% it’s greed and if I was offered it at 24 I’d be off faster than you could say “shave that tash Jota!”.

He absolutely could stay for ten years visiting the same grounds twice a season in * weather and leave a multi millionaire or he takes this once in a lifetime opportunity and spends four years earning mega money then goes back to Benfica to play at the top for another five years.

As I said before, first magic carpet outta here!

Sake! Oh well, lad will be minted and travelling on round the world first class tickets for the rest of his wandering life. Can’t begrudge the lad.

Our management better make sure we get a big chunk ( more than £25m) to splash on improving the squad.
