Money is the motivation for lots of people but I just won't ever understand people going for this sort of move.

I just assumed Saudi was going to be a retirement village for the likes of Ronaldo and Benzema, but * if I can understand why a young guy just about to hit his peak, on the brink of international football, a choice of all the top competitive leauges would go there.

Was hoping for another year or two before he left for the Epl but this is just a shock

 

I'd be concerned if we had the likes of Lee Congerton doing our scouting and auld Pedro doing the negotiating, replacing Jota's talent would be highly unlikely if that were the case.

But it's not. The club has got it's act together big time recently and I trust Mark Lawwell and Mick Nicholson to deliver for us majorly. There are a lot of good players out there who could thrive at a club like ours.

Sort of coming to terms with our transfer strategy being different to what it was. Not holding out for massive fees as much, but overall making more money due to a higher turnover of quality players.

It's vital to get the coaching and development side of things to elite levels though, or it won't work the way it should.

As for Jota specifically, would love to keep him but if he goes fair do's. Was looking forward to seeing him go up a level under Rodgers but * it we move on.

Think most of us didn't even contemplate him going this summer..

He'll need a lot, a * load of replacing..

Whenever games were tight it was usually him with a run, cross or important goal. Had the ability to get us up the park and skin a man. Great first touch and close control. Be a huge miss in my opinion..

When I saw his agent links and the manager links I instantly said on here I'm concerned about this one..

Then you have his idol playing over there
Neves going in his prime, another Portuguese regular
Whole host of top players now going
He'll go for a season at the very least, his family will be set for generations
The amount of Saudi money in England means he'll easily get an EPL move within the next couple of year and still only be 26 at worst..

Not wrong but club's don't * £30m on a decent free kick taker. KT had acquitted himself well against some top players.

Time will tell what the actual fee is.

 

A major step back this is Jota going. What looked like an evolution of the squad is slowly turning in to a rebuild. Not the season to be doing this with bigger things to come with qualifying for the 24/25 CL.

Can only hope this was expected and big things are going on in the background.

 

Will he * get an epl move. His age, undeveloped leaving from scotland. Careers over. His chance of top European football is dead. If he's lucky he'll get a team like us take a punt like we did with mooy.
