In fairness it looks like we're bringing in Martin Boyle's international back up so not all bad.

Everyone here would do the same. If I played for celtic as a life long fan and I was getting 15-20k a week for us and some team in an up incoming league offers me a big bonus for signing on plus treble or quadruple my wages then I'm off and everyone of us would do the same if that carrot was dangled in font of us. Wed all say wed play for celtic for free, that's true but some other team waves big money then we'd all wave bye bye to celtic. Sad but true

We are a selling club and I understand how we go about our business. But it’s getting a bit frustrating how little time we can hold onto good players. Selling one a summer should be enough, especially after selling 2 in January. Don’t think we will be able to build a team in Europe if we keep just shifting so many on. I trust the recruitment but it takes time to gel and for players to build a profile so instant success in Europe is unlikely. If Hatate and Kyogo go too then we are back to square one I would say.

I don’t even have Instagram, so I’m not certain on this, but I believe it’s always been 7 on his account name. I don’t think it was ever 17.

JOTA is locked in talks over a shock £20million-plus switch to Saudi Arabia.

Pro League champions Al-Ittihad want the Celtic winger to join the exodus to the cash-rich Middle East state.

Negotiations are thought to have moved quickly and the Portuguese ace must now decide if he wants to quit the Hoops to head for the Gulf.

Celts have yet to agree to sell the winger after Jota became the latest star Al-Ittihad have targeted to bring to Jeddah.

Super-agent Jorge Mendes’ firm GestiFute has Jota as a client.

And they have also been behind a host of other money-spinning moves which have seen marquee players leave Europe this summer.

Al-Ittihad are bossed by former Wolves gaffer Nuno Espírito Santo - a Mendes client - and have ex-Hearts boss Ian Cathro as first-team coach.

They have already brought in French superstar Karim Benzema from Real Madrid and former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante after agreeing deals worth eye-watering figures.

Ballon d’Or holder Benzema will earn £84m a year for three years while Kante is due to collect £68m a season until 2027.

Their moves are among a host of switches to the Gulf state which could change the landscape of world football.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr from Manchester United in January kickstarted the stream of stars to head to the Gulf.

Ruben Neves last week quit Wolves to join Al-Hilal in a deal which will see the Molineux side net a club record £47m.

Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly has also agreed to join Neves at Al-Hilal.

Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has signed for Al Ahli after three years at Stamford Bridge while former Blues teammate Hakim Ziyech is wanted by Al-Nassr.

The likes of Neymar, Roberto Firmino, Bernardo Silva and Thomas Partey have also been linked with moves to the Middle East.

Jota quickly became a fans’ favourite at Parkhead after joining on loan from Benfica in 2021 as he grabbed 13 goals and 14 assists.

Ange Postecoglou convinced the Hoops board to trigger a £6.5m buyout clause to make the switch permanent a year ago.

Jota maintained his form last season, hitting 15 goals - including two winners against Rangers - and creating another 12.

New Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers last week singled out Jota as one the club’s top talents.

And the loss of the fans’ favourite would be a major blow ahead of the new season.

In October, Jota was included in Portugal’s provisional squad for the World Cup in Qatar before missing out when the group was trimmed down.

But new boss Roberto Martinez recently claimed Jota was on his radar for the future.

Martinez said: “Jota is a player who is very important for the national team in terms of the qualities that he has.

“He is a player that has this natural knack of beating players in a one v one situation. His evolution has been very impressive.

“In the last few months especially he is growing into a very mature role at his club.

“He’s always involved in the big moments, and that’s important. What has been very good is that he’s been very consistent with this role.

“He’s got the potential for being in the national team, absolutely.”

If a move does come off then Benfica would be entitled to a sell-on fee of around 30 per-cent.
