    Was a random WhatsApp rumour this morning that we were trying to sign Manor Solomon and Spurs had pulled out that deal.

    Probably * putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 because of the Jota to Spurs rumour.

    Let's all relax, if ange wants hatate or jota he'd wanna bring his cheque book and for the two it would wanna be +50mill + a player (sessegnon)... I don't think jota would try force a move and he's tied in to a long contract. I'd be very sure it was lawwell and not postecoglu that identified jota.. if it's stupid money for either of them then we cash in and go again

    Was hilarious though when this Jota rumour started appearing :giggle1: Spurs already have Son and Richarlison as his back up so spending big money on Jota doesn’t make sense either way.

    I don’t believe the 30 per cent sell on he failed in la liga pretty bad on loan I don’t think they had any grounds to demand 30 per cent when we agreed the obligation to buy price on the loan before he arrived whole reason behind the loan was try before you buy meaning he could have been a disaster

    I think it's pretty standard tbh mate.

    Same as clubs putting mad release clayses on players they don't even have a clue about. E.g. Ryan Gauld had something mad like a £90m release clause on his sporting contract.

    He was always reasonably rated at Benfica.

    They put a high sell on incase he ended up living to his potential here and then getting a big move to the EPL.

    I can agree that if he was on an upward trajectory but he wasn’t when we took him on loan that’s like saying we would put in 20 per cent sell on fee on ajeti or barkas if any one took up an obligation no one would accept it

    Basically every transfer these days has sell on clauses regardless of fee or level they’r at. Free transfers and release clauses getting triggered in full are really the only time they aren’t included and even with them they’re sometimes included.

    Jota was seen as a superstar in their academy. He didn’t work out for their first team and had a poor loan before but they were always going to want a sell on involved incase he ended up catching light here.

    Every team will fling in sell on clauses to any player incase it works out and they end up getting a few quid down the line for nothing.

    Celtic did not, under any circumstance, pay the fee that we did for Jota whilst sacrificing 30% of his potential future fee. It simply didn’t happen.
