I think the comment about attacking, aggressive football is interesting. It's not really a committment to maintain Ange's system and I'd be surprised to see him keep that if I'm honest. I think it's too attack-minded for Brendan regardless of what he says, he likes to hold the ball more and try and create spaces. The problem with that is he has a squad set up to play a certain way, so it'll be interesting to see what he does with that.

Aye, even if they’d have done the presser on the day he was announced, the enthusiasm for it wouldn’t be the same.

Better this than a new manager who has no experience of the Scottish game, this is what the huns and many others were hoping for, thinking it would give them some sort of advantage.

Encouraging words from the manager, we actually look and sound like a professionaly run club, doing things the right way.

They've definitely played it very cleverly through the media..

    Put out some duff names
Gauged the reaction when his name was first mentioned
Fanned the flames with wrongs from the boards side/Lawwell through the media
Let him do a couple of little interviews before the first main one

I didn't want him back at any cost. No his biggest fan whatsoever but even I've come round to it, and it feels like 95% of the support have in general..

I agree with the comments in the last few pages about how professional the media strategy has been with this and I also agree that this is probably the best appointment we could have hoped for, that it looks like he'll be backed and that there is every reason to feel excited right now. But I hope some of the comments about falling in love with him again are tongue in cheek FFS. :giggle1: Don't set yourself up to go through that again.

Its like some kind of Stockholm syndrome for some folk sadly. I know 2 things here - 1/ We will continue to win trophies 2/ he will * off whenever it suits him as everything is about his ego.
Oh and there is a 3rd thing, there will be a rewriting of his history attempted to shift blame from him to the Club.

His ambitions outweighed our boards, or Lawwell’s should I say the first time round. That’s not rewriting history, that’s a matter of fact. It seems different this time.

To be honest I think we all knew he was at odds with board at the time and probably the relationship was untenable, what my gripe was with the situation was just see the * season out and * off! I am over it * it lets get on with it.

I think deep down Rodgers regrets it, i know many will disagree with that, but i think that's why he's back.

Why, though? Did you buy that he's a very good coach and is likely to do a very good job? That's not falling for his interviews, there's a lot of independent evidence to say that's true!
Did you fall for the exciting ideas of about what he, the coaching staff, the board and the recruitment staff plan to do here? That's not really falling for it either. There's not quite as much evidence for that; but it does seem to fit quite well. It seems pretty plausible.

Or did you fall for the stuff that seemed to imply (without quite saying it) that he feels he's come home and that he loves the club and regrets what appened and all the rest of it. Sure, if you fell for that, then you fell at the first hurdle.

Personally, I've also fallen for the first 2. I also think everyone deserves the chance to redeem themselves so I'll give him the chance to prove the 3rd one over the next couple of seasons, but for now I'm taking the view that talk is cheap.

Rodgers is the burd that walked out on you, but you welcome her back because you know she's good in bed.

I think he is back because he genuinely wants to be here and feels he can achieve things. He could have easily sat and waited on an EPL job, he would have gotten one. Or went to Saudi for obscene money if he really wanted to no doubt.

That’s it for me, don’t get me wrong what we’re paying him is still an unbelievable amount of money to earn however it’s pennies compared to what he could have if he just sat and waited it out. He’s here cause I genuinely believes he wants to be here, and feels he can really help us push on as a club.

After the way it ended last time, unless there was absolute guarantees in place that this time round the boards vision for the club matches his own and that is very exciting, because he’s an elite level coach without a shadow of a doubt.
