I didn't want him back as a first option, and I'm still sour about how he left, but HE IS our manager now, so I'll be judging him on now, and not then... And I won't be throwing up obstacles to OUR TEAM from performing. I'm pretty sure Rodgers would be happy with that from his support.

As for addressing the matter of his leaving, I'll be genuinely * off if he comes out apologizing and making excuses. He made a decision, he's a big boy, he can own it... Only people to gain from us trawling through it are the Huns and the SMSM. It's done, we move on...

"We never stop!"... So... "Let's get to work!"

Again, to iterate the contrasts, why is it none of those people holding grudges (including myself) harboured the same disdain for Anges departure?
They both left us for EPL riches. Both left us in the middle of the notion that something special could be built. Both left us in fear and disillusionment about who would replace them? Both left us for massive salary increases?

Because the manner of Rodgers' departure DESERVES derision.
Ange left us, for what is highly likely, a once in a lifetime job opportunity, at a club who could quite literally, given the right conditions, challenge for both domestic and European honours, as well as a reserved seat at whatever form the Super League will take. It's a TRUE professional step up, and an opportunity almost impossible to conceive at any of the other big clubs. The conditions really just aligned for him to be offered the job; Spurs having been down every conceivable management route to try to improve their fortunes already.

Rodgers left us for Leicester City. A team with zero European tradition, and an almost non existent domestic trophy cabinet, with almost zero chance they will ever see a league or European trophy in the next two decades, and with neither the infrastructure nor finances to break into the top 4 on a sustainable basis.

There are levels to these moves. All the chat about Leicesters league win is merely window dressing in an empty shop. Even when Rodgers took over at the crest of their EPL power, the chances of them lifting a league title again were about the same as me winning the euro millions and getting to put the shoes to Salma Hayek whilst riding Space Mountain with a family of itinerant unicorns.
It's actually part of the reason why I'm not as bent out of shape about this appointment now, as two top 5 finishes are indeed a praise worthy achievement.

The constant "professional" excuses for his departure only serve to highlight the differences in his departure compared to Anges.

Rodgers, at the height of his success here, was absolutely, 100 percent CERTAIN to be offered EPL jobs of a similar profile.
A mid table / relegation zone EPL side with designs on achieving permanent residence in the EPL.

Obviously the conditions at CP have to be taken into account, the breakdown of relationships etc etc.
But the TRULY professional decision should have been to finish what he started, finish the campaign, leave the club with his reputation intact, and wait the short time for a similar EPL opportunity.

He didn't do that. And deserved every bit of * flung his way for doing so. ( Not the mad * obviously, that * disgusting).

I understand that we all have to get behind him now, and that we need to be unified in our support of the club. But airbrushing his behaviour with reasoning that is contrary to actual events isn't the way forward. Those who ignore their history are doomed to repeat it.

Forgiving Rodgers might be the way forward. But forgetting what he did is a dangerous way to move on.

A big name signing soon and the ball will be rolling. Once he starts winning then people will move on.

We are all resigned to losing our best players to clubs in better leagues with more money. It's the same with our managers too.

This is the most important thing for me. The assurances he must have got to come back for round two.

He achieved everything possible domestically so I don’t think that would have been a draw in coming back.

So please everyone thinking Rodgers is a world class coach, look at his actual stats when he was here against possibly the worst hun team of recent times.
A 24 point regression in his 2nd season 10 DRAWS AND 4 LOSSES, we would have been screaming for his head if they had won the title that year.
So in summary if he repeats his "success" of years 2 and 3, they match their points tally of the last 2 seasons, we will comfortably finish 2nd.

I think there is a very valid argument to be had that the board at both us and Leicester were the biggest culprits to be honest. If Leicester hadn’t gone down this season, it would have been next in my opinion. Their board have totally lost sight of any sort of forward vision for the club in my opinion.

Likewise when Rodgers was here, he navigated two Champions League qualifiers, which would have brought in circa £60m, and we ended up arguing with Hibs over a few hundred thousand for McGinn.

It seems this time nobody is under any illusions as to what needs done in order for us to progress.
Rodgers could easily have held out and got another EPL job, no doubt about it. I think he is coming here because he must genuinely feel he can take us further. It takes a lot of bottle to come back here in my opinion, and I respect him for that. He is the perfect manager to take this team forward I feel.

Don't see how you could excuse the board during Rodgers last season tbh.

Rodgers wanted Schar, Piccini/Castagne and Mcginn. 3 of those 4 players have been very successful, and even Piccini would have done OK with us.

Obviously there are still questions over his recruitment, I won't argue that, but there were major issues with our board during his final season.

No bashing you but in his first term he really did get the rug pulled from underneath him, his first season was given a bit of a budget, then loan signings. After that it was pure unadulterated pish, his transfer budget was pish and so was his scouting team. He was let down by the board at multiple levels. Like I say about a lot of things time will tell.
